“Cool and Quirky”
Reviewed June 6, 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We used this home as our base of operations for checking out the area. It is in a great location to make trips into Portsmouth, South Hampton and the New Forest, Salisbury and Hayling Island (all of which we did). It was neat to stay in a piece of history while checking our sites such as Portchester Castle.

While the house is quite old it has all the comforts one could want. The kitchen is well stocked with everything needed to prepare elaborate meals. The beds where comfortable and the small garden is great to relax in.

The stairs are a bit odd and the ceiling is low in areas, but both are easily dealt with and it is these things that give the house much of its character.

“Lovely cottage, excellent accomodation.”
Reviewed June 17, 2014 for a stay in June 2014

Having arrived tired with daughter, partner and 3 grandchildren, after visiting Peppa Pig, it was just great to have everything we needed in place. Jayne was wonderful, nothing too much trouble. Lovely cottage, very cosy and clean. Ate on the Patio all the time, beautifully sunny for the evening meal. Local supermarket walkable, restaurants,take-ways close by. Easy to get to Portsmouth, cheap parking in Wickham St. near Dockyard, plenty for little ones at Southsea and FREE. Will stay again, Fantastic.

“Lovely period house in handy location”
Reviewed June 14, 2014 for a stay in May 2014

It has been 25+ years since I last visited the area so felt that the time was right to do so again.Stayed here with partner and two grown up children and traveled down by train. Please be aware that one of the bedrooms is very near the head of the stairs so as such probably not suitable for a young child.

On arrival found a lovely comfortable period house 10-15 minutes walk from the station with three good sized bedrooms and two toilets which was very useful. Low doorways were a bit of hazard that needed thinking about but this only added to the feel of it. The house was on a main road but never seemed to be particularly busy which meant traffic noise was never a problem for us and a nearby pub which served good food was an added bonus. We were met on arrival by the key-holder and given a quick tour but unlike the cottage that we stayed in last year lacked a few extra touches that made that special.

However,if I had one real complaint it would be with the booking process. The initial booking itself was easy and deposit taken no problem but when it came to paying the balance we received no acknowledgement of receipt (now whether this is the fault of the hosting website of the cottage owners I don't know) until I checked my own credit card receipt. This was disappointing but on the whole did not spoil a very enjoyable stay so don't let this little gripe put you off booking this cottage as I would still recommend it to a friend.

“Great period cottage in heart of town close to everything you need.”
Reviewed June 4, 2014 for a stay in May 2014

A quirky well appointed cottage that has everything on your doorstep. There is a train station a short walk away that has access to Brighton (a must do) and even London if you need to. The cottage is very comfortable, both sitting room and bedrooms. Being right on the High Street does let the traffic noise filter inside. This is a minor nuisance in what is overall a lovely location. The Golden Lion pub is only 50 metres away which offers friendly hospitality.

“Great letting! Amazingly Equipped!”
Reviewed July 1, 2013 for a stay in June 2013

After having stayed in lettings across Europe was surprised that one of the best lettings was just down the road from me!

Great kitchen and very well equipped. Central location and very quiet, even thou we were right on the high street.

Great communication with owner and very easily booked.

Highly recommended!
