This was our second visit and having had such a lovely dining experience the first time, we were really looking forward to it. We were with friends and the food was as good as we remembered. The service was as excellent as we remembered, but the entire evening was spoilt by the inconsiderate people on the table next to us. The ambience is intimate and the management needs to get a grip of how to calm loud guests. Too expensive a meal for us to risk another visit.

Tucked away in South Street, Emsworth, the delightful street which leads down to an even more delightful small harbour. Simply furnished decor gives the room a lovely atmosphere and attentive waiting staff deliver the creations by chef Lawrence with great efficiency. The menu is varied and makes best use of locally sourced ingredients.

Terrific food. From the reviews, I was expecting a good quality bistro, but in fact the menu was a delight to read and was cooked with real skill and panache. Service was quiet but impeccable. At first we thought it was a bit on the slow side (coming from London you get used to tables being turned....) - but when we realised we had the table for the night it all made sense - they don't want to rush you!! How refreshing!

So sit back, relax and enjoy a leisurely dinner - we haven't done that in a while and we were thoroughly satisfied.

We went here with my parents for our wedding anniversary. We wanted something a bit special and having read the reviews thought this would be the place to go.
Our greeting was non existent. We walked in, it is only a small restaurant, and had to wait some time to be acknowledged. The menu was small but interesting. My wife and I ordered the grouse as it was a special and were very disappointed. It was extremely tough the skin like leather and almost inedible and at £25 each, very overpriced. The service was lacklustre, our young waitress did not speak and did not ask us if we wanted more drinks or was everything was ok! i had to ask when she was passing......... there was no atmosphere in the restaurant either, even though there were many other tables taken.
The Lady owner was there but did not speak to us at all , and when we left it felt like we were leaving a cafe.......!
Just £220 lighter
The toilet is situated outside, which on the rainy evening we were there, was not pleasant.
All in all a bit disappointing - we will not be returning sadly!

We booked the whole restaurant for a Birthday lunch. The party included all ages from 6 weeks for over 80. The food was wonderful and the service amazing. They were tolerant and helpful to the extreme. The restaurant is cosy and very clean, as are the outside toilet. I would strongly recommend this place, and will hopefully get to go again soon.
