The food was overpriced - asked for cheese on toast and for money paid would expect 2 slices ................. wrong,,, only got one.
Staff not very helpful.
Because of position, no competition......... hence lathergy
Will not be back ........ better places just a few yards away up to Post office

“Mute service”
Reviewed June 18, 2012

I've never been served a cup of tea or coffee before by a teenager who never once made eye contact, smiled or said a word to myself or my wife during the whole off-loading the tea off the tray! Is this the future of table service?
Other than that, I am giving 2 out of 5 because it's a nice location. I would definitely advise the owner to train the staff in basic politeness and smiling - even if they had a bad time on the alco-pops the night before!

“Lovely little place”
Reviewed May 1, 2012

Pretty little cafe right on the waterside with good home cooked lunches and a selection of cakes and ice creams. We had jacket spuds and they were yummy.. Coffee was nice too and best of all was the friendly staff who actually seemed to enjoy their work!

Only dislike .. the calories in the cakes :-)

“Fresh, delicious food. Exceptional value.”
Reviewed May 20, 2011

My daughter and I were visiting Emsworth after watching the Royal wedding. On walking down to the Quay we came across a sign for cream teas, snacks and ice cream and tucked just round the corner from the more famous '36' was Flintstones. Named for the flints not the cartoon! We decided to have a light lunch. Chilli baked potato with salad and prawn sandwich followed by a cream tea for two. Yes I know ! but we were on holiday. Huge bowl of fab chilli with the tastiest salad (yes it really was) I have had for years. Must be home grown? The prawn sandwiches were like doorsteps. Historic ! All this was followed by light and fluffy warm scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam. Do not miss this cafe. You can sit outside overlooking the Quay or the inside is surprisingly roomy and very nice. Support this young couple. They deserve it and you deserve to eat like a king for £6 though you may end up spending more on an ice cream as well !
