“Pretty Good”
Reviewed August 28, 2014

Came here before seeing a show at the point with my friens. Wasn't busy which was nice. My friend and I ordered diet cokes which came out flat, we said we didnt want them in the end and just had water but they didnt charge us. All the food came togther and was lovely and filling. I remember it being slightly less tatsy than when it was Nashaa but still enjoyable. The staff were lovely as always though.

“Nashaa was better”
Reviewed August 27, 2014

Before this restaurant changed to Mumbai lounge it was previously called Nashaa and I much preferred it then. Me an mum dad quite regularly went to Nashaa for a mid week evening meal and it was great then one evening we went in there and hadn't realised it has changed hands until this rude waitress said choose a table sit where you want and I commented on not recalling seeing her before then when we ordered our food I wasn't impressed either the chef seemed to have changed and the food was gloopy, there was one of the previous waiters still left in the restaurant and he was always lovely and explained to us the reasons for the change and told us there future plans... Wine bar and booths no thank you why ruin a good restaurant by plonking a wine bar in it and changing the open lay out of the restaurant which everyone has stated they like. Nashaa used to be by far the best Indian restaurant in Eastleigh and now I'm afraid it's probably not nowhere near as good I've had nicer meals since in the saffron and great mogul just around the corner from Mumbai lounge.

“Will happily go back”
Reviewed August 26, 2014

Six of us visited last night taking advantage of a Groupon offer (2 courses £7-80 per head). The table was pre booked for 7-30 pm. On arrival there were only two other diners but at around 7-30 another table of 6 and table of 2 were taken. Unfortunately this seemed to be a problem as service was slow which does make me wonder how they cope on a busy evening.
The restaurant is easy to get to and there is plenty of on street parking close by in the evenings. It is also easy to get to it on foot from the railway station.
The dining area is large, tastefully decorated and there is plenty of space between tables. Hoorah for an Indian restaurant without cramped booths!
Although there were some restrictions applied because we were using a Groupon voucher the menu choice was still quite extensive and interesting. We chose individual starters - could not believe the size of the portions when they arrived - very generous. We then chose a selection of main courses that we could share between us - again generous portions. As the meals came with either naan bread or rice we decided to have 3 of each and share which worked well. We ordered 3 vegetable dishes as extras. Table warmers were used which helped keep the dishes nice and hot though out the meal. Each dish was tasty with an ample amount of meat in each.
Although we'd probably all eaten more than our fair share of food for the evening we indulged in an ice cream dessert each - well it was Bank Holiday! Again, the dessert menu was more interesting than many other Indian restaurants.
We did have to check the bill carefully when it came because there had been a couple of mistakes when the drinks and food came to our table but it wasn't easy to double check as the drinks and desserts were not itemised. Considering we all had a drink as well as the other extras our average cost of the whole meal was £18 - including a tip. Excellent value.
I mentioned earlier about the slow service - that wasn't a real problem to us last night as we were enjoying each others company and we were not in any particular hurry. The other party of six seemed to have a number of complaints at the end of their meal and the slow service was one of them. The time it took for their issues to be sorted did add extra time onto our visit - we had a long wait between asking for the bill and receiving it because of this. However when the bill was brought although there was no apology there was a little sweetener of a complimentary glass of Irish Cream each.

Would I go back again? Yes. I think it is worth a second chance.
Would I recommend it to anyone else? Yes. Give it a try --even without a voucher the prices are reasonable.

“Unusual dishes in pleasant restaurant”
Reviewed August 20, 2014

We visited on a Wednesday night. Although we were there early (6.15) several tables were already occupied. The tables were covered in fresh linen with high-quality linen napkins. A real (non-electric) candle added atmosphere. We ordered a pint and a half of Cobra lager and this was served well chilled in proprietary chunky glasses. We began with four papadums served with a quartet of chutneys. They were very much as in most Indian restaurants. Our starter was Hush Tikka (Duck Tikka) served on a sizzling metal plate. Three sizeable chunks of duck had been cooked in a clay oven with onions and served with a small side salad. The meat was interestingly spiced and of good quality. It was an unusual dish.

For the main course I ordered Goan chicken, cooked with cumin seeds, coconut, garlic, ginger and fairly mild Goan red chillis. This was an excellent dish, with a delicious sauce (not too thick) and high quality chicken pieces. Very enjoyable. My wife chose Chicken Passanda, cooked with ground almonds, cashew nuts and mango. The ground nuts were discernible in the creamy sauce and again the dish was very tasty. We had a naan bread each with the main course. If there was anything that might have been improved in the meal, it was perhaps that the naan was slightly undercooked and doughy. Anyway, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the fact that unusual dishes were available on their very sizeable menu.

“Mumbai Lounge visit 16 August 14 ”
Reviewed August 17, 2014 via mobile

Went here Saturday 16/08/14 with friends. Had a great meal only 2 courses as we couldn't manage any more. The food was lovely and very enjoyable. The meat was succulent and the meal was plentiful. Would definitely return.
