“Another good stay at Ellington Lodge”
Reviewed June 5, 2013

We always stay here before a cruise. Their package is very good value. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The management and staff are charming and very helpful. You can tell it is family run as they take pride in their service. We love the fact that they have jazz bands playing there although this time it was Billy Ocean.

Room Tip: Ask for a ground floor room with a terrace.

Lovely size room, well equipped and tastefully furnished. We found the bed a little uncomfortable as it was harder than we are used to, but that is just a matter of personal taste. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent, nice buffet selection and the cooked food was perfect, especially the smoked haddock with poached eggs. We were travelling with our German Shepherd and found the hotel and bar to be dog friendly, although we thought the £15 surcharge a little high. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Stayed here for the Phoney Fest weekend, third stay at the hotel and third use of the club.
Hotel. Practical, clean, fair size rooms, t/coffee making in room + trouser press. and all you want for a stay, beds are a little uncomfortable but thats all down to taste.

Club, I agree with previous review the wine/ shorts are expensive and could do with being lowered a little, it would be hard for the club to justify £28 a bottle for a middle of the road Sancere and £24 for a Rioja. They did have two real ales on at £3.40 per pint so credit there.

Staff worked hard but there where not enough of them to give good service they where under too much pressure and missed certain things that would of made it perfect.

Breakfast, very good quality, average buffet spread but good cooked breakfast, again staff worked hard but there where overwhelmed.

Overall a good hotel and club that attracts great acts, the Phoney Fest is always a good bash [Saturday was very good, Sunday lacked a bit until Foo Fighters and Lizzy got it going]

All in all a good hotel and club

Setting lovely and very convenient. Room clean as was bathroom. Nice fluffy towels and good shower products provided. Room a little on the dark side due to a high window with nets and dark furnishings, some of the down stairs rooms have their own outside space which would be nice if you are staying more than the one night. Ate in the Moldy Fig which was good.

Went to the Ellie Brooks night which was superb, including the sit down meal but why oh why do they need to charge such ridiculous prices for their drinks particularly the wine? Just under £6.00 for a small glass. I also spoke to gentleman at the bar who had just queried his exorbitant drinks bill and was obviously not happy either. Sort yourselves out Concorde its not all about the money?????

Stayed one night on a Bank holiday weekendand was really the only place we could find at late notice. For the price we paid I expected more. It has lovely grounds and is easy to locate off the motorway but the room had lumpy beds and staff not particularly friendly. The door to the bathroom would not stay shut and we needed to ask for more towels.
Wifi was free and good signal and the hotel is dog friendly.
We had dinner at the hotel restuarant because the wine bar was closed for a private party. The food was quite good if a bit limited menu. However the service was poor and the room felt dirty as there were heaps of cobwebs on the windows and curtains. There is no ambience to this room it feels like a huge ballroom.
Breakfast was in the wine bar and was reasonable with a buffet and a hot selection cooked to
order. This was quite tasty.

Room Tip: Rooms 5 to 8 have doors that open out on to the grounds directly.
