Helpful staff, who have probably been skied the same questions over and over again, never tire in talking about the engines. Just lovely to see those who car doing things they clearly adore. Go and visit. Buy a reasonably priced drink from the cafe and go for a ride on the train for only a few quid. Even though it was wet and miserable, the trains more than make up for that.

We have visited Lakeside many times with our grandchildren. They think it is great. The trains are exciting, most with live steam. The prices are reasonable and much better value than expensive theme parks. The round trip on the little train is long enough to feel that you get your money's worth and goes through an exciting tunnel. The little swings park halfway makes a good break and you can combine it with a stroll round the lake to look at the fishing. The cafe offers a good value breakfast and children's meals which our grandsons love.

I took my 3 boys (ages 8, 7, 1) after dropping my husband off at the airport. The boys were extremely excited to ride the train and really enjoyed the trip, especially going thru the tunnel. The price was okay, but I wouldn't pay extra to sit in first class and it appear no one else did either. I was expecting a little more to do after taking the train ride, but the playground was very small and disappointing. I walked the boys over to the 3 lakes and they had fun walking around them watching all the people fish. Its definitely a nice little train ride for little ones maybe it is more exciting when they have their monthly "Thomas Days Out" but it does seem that they charge alot on those weekends.

Lucky enough to leave in walking distance. Especially lovely at the moment because of the autumn colors around the lake!

The lakes are beautiful, dogs must be kept on a lead on most of the paths but can be let off on a couple. There is a children's play area and fantastic train ride around the lakes. The cafe is lovely but it only takes cash. If your caught short though the ticket office offers cash back alongside the gift shop.
