“Don't Go for the DIsco”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 2, 2013

4 of us went for New years eve at £40 per head for a 3 course meal (prepbooked) and a disco, The food wasgood and the table servicewas first class. The disco wasn't. There was little sound and the DJ was totally intimidated by a group of teenagers who demanded and got what they wanted playing. There were no party poppers or anything to bring in the new year with.We took our own. The food had a menu value of about £25 per head leaving £15 for the Disco. We were told that due to the poor service from the disco we would not be charged the full price but this was not honoured when we went to pay our bill. The bar staff and waiting staff worked very hard and all joined in the party on the night. The mamangement spent the whole night with their family and took no interest in the event or the clientelle, Shame!

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 28, 2012

Had the pleasure of eating here on Boxing Day. Everything was as ordered and quality was 1st class. Would like to thank Joe Crosby and his team and wish them all a Happy New Year. Looking forward to more visits in 2012.

“Bit hit and miss”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 16, 2012 via mobile

Have had nice meals here, have also had disappointing meals here. They often run out of the specials early on in the evening (I was once told they had none left at 6.30pm, it thought that was rather early?!). Food seems to vary in how it is served and presented and is sometimes on the lukewarm side. The last time I went for drinks only as the surroundings in the pub are cosy and there are some nice comfy chairs in the bar area to sit and catch up.

“Good atmosphere - restaurant a let down”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2012 via mobile

We've been here 3 times. Once in July when the food, service and atmosphere was great and we wanted to return.

However the last 2 times we have been very let down with food and speed of delivery. The food hasn't been of great quality: cold food, burnt in places, over killed by volume of sauce, a lamb shank that was devoid of taste and flavour and not had items delivered that we orders (ordered a roast and weren't told that most of the veg was gone - so we got what ever veg was left over in the kitchen). To top it all off the speed of delivery has been very protracted given the number of customers (1.5 hrs for sandwich, desert and a cup of tea - all with only 5-6 customers in).

“Only stopped for a snack”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

We stopped here on a Saturday lunchtime in November - we had already had a big cooked breakfast in the hotel we were staying in so were hoping to be able to have a light snack. However there didn't appear to be any sandwich or baguette type options so I settled on just having a crispy coconut chicken fillet starter. This was a generous portion and freshly made and cooked and was served piping hot with a mango dip (which was a bit in the sweet side) I thought it was extremely good value for the cost which I think was about £5.45.

The downside was although this is a big pub/restaurant and seemed quite comfortable and clean the ladies toilets were in need of a serious refubishment and let the pub down - they were reasonably clean which was the only positive thing I would say about them.
