“Luke warm coffee, luke warm quiche and luke warm service.”
Reviewed October 21, 2013

This used to be a favourite of ours and we would always tell people how much we loved it This was until 4 of us visited on a Monday when the café was not too busy. All 4 coffees were warm, not hot. We had to drink them immediately. The slice of quiche 2 of us had was warm on the tip furthest from the crust but the rest of it stone cold. This was a pity as although it was a small portion the flavour was good. The 2 toasted sandwiches were very nice but one initially arrived without being toasted and was sent back to be toasted. The most disappointing part of the visit was the pretty, but very miserable waitress...... she knows who she is! At no time did I see her crack a smile at any of our group or any other customers. She looked like she was there under supreme sufferance. Our plates took ages to be cleared and we had to ask this waitress to please clear them in the end. One of our party said Thank you to her as we left but she didn't even reply. We wont be going back.

“Lovely food let down by service”
Reviewed October 17, 2013

Visited this patisserie on a Saturday morning before the lunch rush. There was us and 2 other tables of people but we were the only ones waiting to be served. We waited a while and no one came to take our order, then a couple with a small child left and 2 waitresses appeared to clear their small table of plates. As some other people came in at the same time my husband asked if one of the waitresses could take our order (I think he could envisage the new group being served first). This caused a teenage strop, which may or may not be the reason for our experience..... Firstly my coffee came on its own, followed by my husband's coffee a few moments later. My coffee was just warm and had to be drunk immediately. Then after a sensible period of time my food arrived, but with an "oh sorry did you want two?" comment. My husband's food therefore, arrived some 10 mins later. The food was good but we felt we had a somewhat staggered meal with neither of us eating or drinking at the same time. During our visit we also witnessed a cappuccino being delivered and quite rudely removed from a customer because according to (a different) waitress it was 'not right'.

Finally, ditto the previous review regarding uncomfortable chairs.

“Very Good food , service a bit haphazard”
Reviewed September 23, 2013

Had a light lunch here on a busy saturday. The pastry was delicious and very authentic, coffee extremely strong, great value smoked salmon sandwich.

Service was unfortunately very haphazard, from a rather dippy teenage girl, who kept forgetting to write down vital parts of the customers orders.

The dining room chairs/ tables are rather uncomfortable- which seems to detract from the great quality of their cakes and food.

With a little more thought and staff training this could be exceptional

“Lovely spot for coffee and catching up”
Reviewed August 27, 2013

Love this place, the coffee is excellent (SO much nicer than the chain coffee shops). Good selection of tasty sandwiches and baguettes too. It can get busy as it's so small but you can see straight away through the window if there's a seat. Staff are usually friendly and helpful too.

“Do not go in if you are on a diet!”
Reviewed August 6, 2013

The selection was excellent and very reasonably priced. Both Savoury and Sweet were too good that words here do not do them justice
