Description: A countryside retreat for fans of the great outdoors, The Jolly Farmer in Hampshire is a wonderful country pub serving first class beer and home-cooked food. We have an award-winning garden with a fantastic enclosed children's play area, making us a safe bet for summer pints!

Came here with some friends after a visit to Alice Holt, the pub is absolutely lovely with a nice outdoor play area for the kids. Inside it was cosy and warm with plenty of space to move around.

Our orders for drinks and food were taken very quickly, however the children's main meals and our starters took a while to come. Then we were left waiting for quite a long time for them to collect our plates, then even longer until our mains came (the children had mostly finished their food before we even got our main meals). There was a similar delay between mains and desserts.

However I can't fault the food which was excellent, on the more expensive side for pub food however (£6 each for starters and dessert and £11 for a roast). Slightly disappointed with the size of the starter and dessert but couldn't fault how much food came with the roast (plenty of veg).

Have to say though the staff were polite and friendly throughout.

The very best of pub good, served by very friendly staff. This is a venue that we have used spasmodically over the past 20 years but are now almost regulars. The winter menu is superb, try the fish hotpot, you won't be disappointed!
Prices are reasonable, a good range of beers and a restaurant if you want a higher level of service.
At weekends you really need to book.

We went back recently as previous experiences had been very disappointing, and almost laughable. A Chef who insisted that a Meringue and a dollop of ice cream was his own interpretation of Eton Mess when we questioned the offering. Didn't try it this time but hopefully he has got the message by now. Average food and long delays.. Complaints yielded little reaction.
This time however, the Roast was good, plentiful and tasty, staff were smiling and the whole place seems to be lifted. Worth another try.
