“Enjoyable Santa experience”
Reviewed December 31, 2013

Our party of 4 adults and 2 children had a very enjoyable trip on the Santa Special. The whole experience was well organised. If I have any criticisms it would be that there is a lack of communication, if they had told us that we were going to be at Ropley for twenty minutes we could have got off the train for a walk around the station. All in all a great day out.

“Santa Special”
Reviewed December 22, 2013

Compared with last year a very disappointing trip. The gifts were poor. A toddler of 18 months received a very small cloth book which hangs on a pram, the 3 year old a small teddy. On mentioning the book, this was then replaced with a teddy identical to the 3 year old. The ticket mentioned the children's price included gift and refreshment. This was in fact a small carton of juice - nothing to eat! Adult refreshments not much better. The 'Santa Helpers' were glum looking and had the personality of 'wet fish', with the exception of one young lady who engaged the passengers in a singsong (one tune actually). Background Christmas music would help, but a couple of musicians would definitely be an asset. Certainly not value for money. We will not return next year.

“Chilly Santa Train experience”
Reviewed December 21, 2013

The trip from Alton to Ropley and back and the visit, with presents, of Santa and his helpers was well done and enjoyed by all in our party group, despite it being a wet, foggy December day! What was poor, however, was that the coaches were, as far as we could tell, cold when we boarded. Fortunately, there was no frost or snow but even so we expected to at least travel in the comfort of a pre-heated train. No explanation for the cold coaches was offered over the intercom system. If the train was more comfortable this would have been a 5 star experience!

“Touch of nostalgia”
Reviewed December 20, 2013

Took the kids and grandkids on the Santa special.
It was just perfect, so well organised, the helpers were fantastic and made the trip special.
Train and the stations were all dressed and looked very impressive.
Gifts for the kids, and not cheap rubbish either and in lovely keepsake bags.

I cant recommend this enough and if you want to take the kids to see Santa without feeling ripped off or robbed this is the attraction to visit.

Will be back again next year.
Well done to every one concerned as your all a credit.

“What a letdown”
Reviewed December 16, 2013

My wife and I were looking forward to Countryman on Saturday evening having booked in August, but alas things did not go right. Service was first class, food was not, Turkey and vegetables cold gravy the same. I reported the to a waitress who replied she would inform the person in charge. I assumed that someone would speak to me, wrong, not a word. Then the power failed in the kitchen and carriage full of diners so maintainer staff laid extension leads on the carriage floor to try and resume some lighting. Hardly safest thing to do in dimly lit carriage. A very disappointing experience an I will contacting the Managing Director on this matter shortly.
