When I couldn't get into the Premier Inn in Manchester City Centre, and didn't have the budget for alternatives, I booked the Salford Quays Premier Inn. My wife and I were certainly very glad we had. It's in a great location - the Quays are lovely, and are a real contrast to the noise and frenetic pace of the City. It was perfect for our young family - two adults and two children. The Lowry shopping outlet, theatre, Media City and Imperial War Museum North are a pleasant 20 minute stroll down the quay-side away. The location felt safe - I felt this was a good alternative for us, as we were booked in for an event at the Arena. The taxi fare averaged at just under a tenner.
The hotel keeps to the usual high standards of Premier Inn. The staff are very friendly, from the check in staff, through to the housekeeping staff we passed by. I always felt that the reception staff had a lot of time for us, and had no qualms about booking taxis, offering advice about the area and just being generally very helpful.
The hotel was clean, comfy and quiet. We always try to book with Premier Inn above the competitors, wherever we stay in the country. This hotel was one of the best we've stayed at. We ate at the attached Beefeater pub for dinner and breakfast. Again, the breakfast was up to the usual high standards of Premier Inn that most - if not all - of the chain meet. The dinner was the usual pub grub fare, but nice enough, with decent portions. There seem to be plenty of alternatives dotted around the Quays, if the pub doesn't grab your fancy.
We booked this hotel because we ran out of options in the City Centre. From now on, this will be our first choice whenever we venture to Manchester.
