Was over in Manchster for a few days. The black lion was near my hotel. Decided to pop in for a beer.

Staff were friendly, music was great and the selection of alcohol was great. Returned the following day for food. Was excellent pub grub with a decent selection. Returned later that night with some mates. They all loved the place too.

If I eveer move to Manchester, this will be my local.

We often go to The Black Lion in Salford for a meal and to listen to music etc. The food is always excellent value and homemade. I would recommend the pie of the day but everything we have had has been brilliant. Definitely a place to try and then come back for more.

Since 2011 The Black Lion has just been getting better and better! Recently I kept hearing about these amazing menus and what seemed like 'home cooked food' - I was not disappointed when I went in!

Usually myself and my boyfriend just pop in for a beer (and what an amazing beer menu they have! Lots of foreign beers along with a nice cocktail menu too)

The night we had food I ordered the sausages and mash (gravy in a jug as I am a bit funny when it comes to gravy but I wanted the opportunity to try it) my boyfriend had the cheese and onion pie and was not disappointed. Firstly, my sausage and mash was gorgeous - the sausages were full of flavour and the mash was 'proper' mash, no smash seen here! The gravy was lovely and I ended up eating the lot in about two seconds. My boyfriends cheese and onion pie was lovely and as a vegetarian The Black Lion really offer a nice selection of tasty veggie treats! The pie came with chips, once again homemade and I think they were triple cooked or something like that!

Overall if you are passing or you are peckish for some damn good Pub food then I would really recommend it. we had two mains and two pints and I think our bill was under £21 which is a bargain considering the prices of some places in the city centre. This place is just a two minute walk off Deansgate and I would highly recommend it!
