A varied and interesting area. Large modern redevelopment with mall containing outlet shops, eateries and cinema. Personally I think the shopping is a little weak, but there is something for everyone, depending on your age and requirement.
More impressive is the Lowry theatre complex. It is by far the best large theatre (Royal Exchange is better but small) in the Manchester area. Across the bridge is the Imperial War Museum, and with Media city in close proximity there is some fantastic modern architecture to admire.

The Quays are well worth a visit. Discounted shopping, theatres, Imperial War Museum (North) and all within reach of each other. The scenery is very pleasant and water activities are regular. There are numerous restaurants and hotels.

Love being by the water, walking round, peaceful and interesting at the same time. Often things going on there and attractions like the museum minutes walk away. Now media city there too. Shopping, though not fantastic prices but its under cover and convenient.
