“A bit tired, but reasonably priced”
Reviewed June 8, 2011

This is within walking distance from the city centre (about half an hour) which was why we opted for it but it is a very tired looking hotel. The leaflets in the rooms were all at least 2 years out of date - 2008/2009 and all looked like they had got damp and were crimkled. The paper table 'mats' at breakfast were the same - quite off putting. The shower was quite dangerous - over bath but the raised area of the bath that you stand on that should be non slip was worn away and very slippery. And putting a sign up saying 'caution slippery surface' does not help! The corridors smelt very strongly of smoke, which was very offputting and strange as all the rooms on that floor were non smoking. All in all it was OK, would I use it again? Probably not, unless I could get a room for £30 a night - which was advertised, but certainly not what we paid!

This is only a two star hotel and it does that fine.
Yes rooms need a bit if a refresh but on the positive you have comfy beds, flat screen tv and very good wifi for free. Nice powerful shower in bathroom. Breakfast in morning is plentiful but was a bit overcooked and dry in my case. However good cereals, coffee and bread etc. Difficult to rate as it probably is not as slick as a premier inn and does need refurb but as mentioned it's only two stars.

Agree with last review, not great to be honest. Good location for Old Trafford and walking to Deansgate, MEN etc but could do with a bit of a tidy up. Sure there more to be offered around Manchester.

This hotel is awful, the first room we were given was really dirty and the bathroom was full of mould. After complaining they gave us another room which was a small improvment...not so much mould but cracked sink & bath! Carpets were filthy and the whole place just smelt old and musty. There were cobwebs and nicotine stained walls and lampshades, Yuk! We only chose this hotel for the free parking and being close to The Opera House where we were going to see a show. Would not stay here again!

We booked a one night stay using the Laterooms iphone app, and paid £54 for a double room, no breakfast; not bad for a room booked six minutes before arrival.
The layout was a little surprising; large carpark surrounded by eight foot high fencing (didnt encourage trust in the surrounding area), with the restaurant/bar/reception separate to the main building. We got a room on the third floor, and while not spacious, it was clean and tidy. The bathroom showed some heavy wear and tear (chips in the sink and bath), but again was clean. The WiFi signal (boing!?) was a bit of a joke, dropping out every 2/3 minutes. The bed was comfy and of a decent size, and the staff were friendly and helpful.
This was our first experience in a Campanile hotel, and we would stay again.

Hotel was easy to find is it is situated on the main road into Manchester. From the moment of checking in experiance was bad, reception seemed understaffed as receptionist was also working the bar. Strangely the reception/bar/restaurant is a seperate building from the rooms?!? having stayed in a Campanile before I was very disappointed with the size of the room and decor in the bedroom. I'm sure wood chip went out of fashion in the last century!! rooms were really noisy, could hear the alarms going off in the morning in the rooms we were next to, and as it is on the main road, really noisy all night. There is also a sever lack of plugs, trying to get two teenage girls ready to go to a concert with only two plugs only one word to explain "NIGHTMARE". Breakfast the following morning was awful, i would be sure that the ccoked breakfasts were not fresh, the tomato was more like a sundried one rather than a grilled one, one of our teenagers only wanted sausages for breakfast, needless to say, on checkig out we were charged the full price for it!!. Went Sainsburys cafe the next morning, no wonder the restaurant was enpty the night we checked in. In short the only good thing about this hotel was the friendly staff, and the escellent indian near by.

Checked in earlier than stated which was great as I wanted to drop my bags off and head back out. Room was better than expected. Nice location with a retail park over the road. Would stay again. Staff were lovely.
