Copthorne Hotel Manchester
Ranked #16 of 20 Hotels in Salford
Reviewed February 2, 2009

My mother in law booked this hotel a few weeks before we were due to stay there. Most other central hotels were already booked so we ended up out in Salford. The staff were friendly when we arrived although it did seem to take a while. The room was attractive enough but the bathroom was pretty shocking. Our room overlooked the car park and busy main road. There was glazing but we could still hear it. Take earplugs if you're sensitive to noise!

We paid about £200 for 1 night, 2 people in a double room. And I was completely shocked that that did not include breakfast! This was hugely overpriced. I have stayed in lots of fab hotels across the UK that do not charge anywhere near this amount and would include breakfast as a matter of course.

Its an ok hotel that seemed to be popular with upmarket hen and stag parties but not suitable for a nice getaway or anything and certainly not value for money.

Stayed here with 5 colleagues on a business trip. The hotel is easy to find and has a large car park. The rooms were clean and had the usual fixtures and fittings. However, we did find the rooms very warm and without air con a little uncomfortable. Opening the window didn’t help.

Arrived on a cold November evening. Helpful reception staff and a clean, warm and comfortable room.
Leaving early the next morning, the nearby tram whisked us into the city centre in no time at all.

My partner and I booked this for a weekend getaway with a bit of shopping thrown in. We found the hotel to be well located, the quay area is good to walk around and is near the Lowry Centre and shopping mall, also nearby is the Imperial War Museum. It was only few minutes into the city centre via the metrolink which stops behind the street opposite the hotel. There are several eating places short walk away including Frankie & Benny's and a Mexican.
Our room was overlooking the quays and was very comfy. Breakfast was included in the weekend rate and there was an excellent choice of full English, juices, cereals, croissants etc. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We ate at the hotel one night and found the meals really good if a little pricey.
Man utd football ground is not far away therefore the hotel is popular with supporters, so if you stay when a home match is being played be prepared to have the lounge and tv commandeered in the evening!
All in all it was an enjoyable stay and we would return here if in the area again.

Excellent hotel, good rooms and good value too if booked early enough. I use it when I go to see Man Utd so matchdays it can be expensive or limited availability. Few moments walk from Old trafford and 15 mins from the airporet. All in all, a sound choice.

We arrived at 10:30am but the staff were happy to book us in early. We had paid a little extra to be on the back of the hotel and it was worth every penny. Lovely big clean room an a great view over the queys.
It looks like there are a lot of weddings at the hotel, but we were not disturbed once.
I can't comment on breakfast as we were on a room only rate but the hotel was excelent.

Stayed here twice. Had a good stay both times.

Towards the back of the hotel you have Salford Quays and lovely area to walk. There are also restaurants nearby and a canoeing company. A lovely walk to the Lowry Centre.

Tram line very close by for cheap transport through to central Manchester.

Hotel room small and functional, maybe a little shabby, bathroom is a bit dated. Nice big ledge in bathroom for cosmetics. I found the room very comfortable.

Loved that the windows opened - so many hotels don't allow this these days. There was traffic noise but I have great earplugs.

Breakfast was lovely, huge choice (no Marmite though).
