Was booked in this hotel for one night, we were off to see a Radiohead concert that started at 16.00hours. We arrived at the hotel at 2.30pm only to be told that we couldnt check in as there had been a flood. We were asked to check in and so and have a drink in the bar. We went into the bar and was told that we had to pay for a drink if we wanted one (nothing offered as complimentry) we ordered two drink in the well overpriced bar and waited for the receptionist to come and get us once our room was ready. After an hour we went to see what was going on and they gave us the room key!!
When we get to our room there were dehumidifiers everywhere (understandable) and the room was very warm because of this, but we got showered and left for our concert as we understood the problem had to be sorted. HOWEVER when we got back at approx 11pm, the dehumidifiers were still droning away and our room by now was uncomfortably hot. We opened the window but found this was too noisy so we called to reception to ask if they could be turned off until the morning because they were very noisy, we were told NO they have to stay running but they would move us to another room, (by this time it was 12.30am and were were in bed and after travelling 5 hours then having to wait for a room we simply had no energy to be relocated)
After a not so pleasant night, we were awoken by the staff emptying room service trays at 6.15am, slamming of doors, then at 8.30am the maintanence staff started on the room next door! If this wasnt enough, we were then walked in upon at 9.10am, the door was knocked once then he just walked in to clean our room (considering you dont have to check out until midday) I have stayed in much cheaper hotels than this and never had these problems.

Booked into the Copthorne for a three night stay with my wife and 11 month old baby.

First the good stuff, hotel had very good customer service both over the phone and in person, requested a baby cot and it was in place when we checked in.

Most of the negatives are more to do with the building. I can confirm that that the walls are paper thin, you can hear everything going on in the room next door as well as the corridors.

We booked a standard room, the room was a good size facing onto the main road.

During the evening there was the constant sound of doors banging and hallway chatter.

The room was very hot, the windows only opened fractionally and then you had to deal with street noise.

I also found on my first night that one of the legs on the bed was falling over, when I came back to the room the leg had gone and the bed was prompted by some box not exactly a four star solution but it did the trick.

For the price we paid I was quite happy but if I had to pay the full rate I would definitely stay elsewhere. The location is fine with a metro stop literally round the corner.

Overall the hotel is letdown by its structure and build qualityrather than staff who were helpful in handling all our requests. Definitely not a four star hotel have stayed in better three star hotels.

We've just returned from an overnight stay at this hotel and I think many reviewers on this site are going way over the top as to how bad they think it is. Yes, it is stuck in a late 80s timewarp and yes, the lack of air con in the bedrooms and the fact its next to a noisy building site (quayside apts) are minus points but on the plus side, our connoisseur room was very clean and comfortable, reception and restaurant staff were pleasant, the breakfast was expensive but there was plenty of choice and it was very well cooked. The hotel is perfectly situated for access to the metrolink (less than 5 minutes walk) and the view across the quays at night is class! There are plenty of other hotels to choose from in Salford Quays but this one would be hard to beat for its location right on the quays.

We stayed here for 1 night before a Manchester United Soccer Game and i'm not sure if the hotel staff was under a lot of pressure or if they were just rude because we found them very unhelpful, especially in terms of getting around and to the stadium. The room was average and nothing different than a standard european room. The shower was gross and I felt like I was standing in a pool while showering because the water drained at a snails pace. I decided to check out the breakfast because it wasn't included, only to find on my check out bill that it was 17.50 pounds, which is insane. As a Canadian that translates to about $35 for breakfast for one person, of which it was definitely not worth. I found the price of the hotel rather expensive but understandably it was probably raised because of the match. The hotel is accessible from the Metrolink which is convenient but it is still kind of out of the way of manchester.

This hotel costs over twice the price other hotels in the area charge and delivers not even half the comfort, staff courtesy, satisfaction that others do.
We were given a room that was also obviously used as a meeting room in the day ( there was a sign outside the door that could be pulled across to say "meeting in progress")
The bed was a pull-down bed that left a huge gap between the bed and the headboard so the pillows disappeared down the gap and you could not sit up in bed to read.
The mattress was very uncomfortable - as hard as a pile of bricks, we were kept awake all night by the noise from the lift.
The room was unbearably hot, and we had to keep a window open which added to the noise.
The checkin was hopeless, we were 45 mins early for official check-in time and were abruptly told to wait until 2pm - not nicely at all. At 2pm there was a terriffic queue of people waiting for rooms and none available.
Breakfast was adequate but I've had better for far less money and then they tried to charge us over £100 more than we had booked on checkout.Lots of other annoyances too.
Will NEVER go back .
