Booked this months ago.I was a little worried when I read some of the reviews re unfriendly staff.

However, this place is fine, great staff. From check in the lady on reception was very helpfull no complaints. The lovely lady taking care of the breakfast was very kind, funny and not a bit stuck up.Our room was clean, well kept. The hotel is near the Salford outlet, short walk to the Lowry theatre, and near a a cinema .Plenty of food choices. five minutes to Morrisons (after 4 pm meal deal good at £8 for two) Tram is easy just five minutes walk away, which saves taking the car into Manchester.I would book this hotel again.

As always you know what to expect from a Holiday Inn and genrally you get it,this is a moan regarding the small charge for car parking, it never used to be there and whilst I am sure there is an excuse for the charge its the customer that has to pay it and I for one will look for the other hotels in the area.

Thank you for your recent comments concerning your recent visit to the Holiday Inn Express Manchester Salford Quays.

Your comments are much appreciated as without Positive and Negative feedback we are unable to improve the services that we provide to you our guests.

In regards to our car park, this is now a chargeable service within the hotel (either as a guest or patron). This came in to place at the beginning of 2012, we are one of the last hotels on Salford Quays itself to start to charge for car parking.

The current hotel car parking rate is £3.00 which is lower than the surrounding hotels daily charges. This is in place to ensure that all hotel guests and patrons can find adiquate parking spaces and not have to park on the road. The charge is also to maintain the upkeep of the car park.

Thank you for your feedback.

Kind Regards,
Jane O'Mahony

Stayed last night as travelled up from Bournemouth to see the FA Cup game at Wigan and decided to make a weekend of it with a stay in Manchester with my wife and 13 year old son and have to say it was a great value stay.
The room was made up of a double bed and a double sofa bed for my son which is unusual as normally at say a Premier Inn you only get a single sofa bed so my son was really happy with his big bed.
We found the hotel very modern , clean and tidy and the complimentary breakfast was fine and ok its not the biggest choice of items but what do expect for this price and is was enough to keep us going for the morning walk around the Quays and Media City area where we visited the Imperial War Museum and then Old Trafford and the whole area is very modern and has numerous shops and restauarants to visit.
Found the staff very friendly and helpful and we will definitely stay again next time we visit Manchester.

We visit Machester fairly regularly and usually stay here or at the new HI at Media City. Why do we keep coming back to the HIEx? Because it is no fuss, good value, quiet location and an easy journey (car or tram) to get to and to where we want to be. On our most recent visit, we had our first ever problem, namely a 2nd floor room very close to the aircon units. We asked the manager if we could move and he was more than happy to oblige, offering a room on another floor if we wanted.
Unlike comments from a few other reviewers, we have never had a problem with bed quality or room cleanliness. The Canada geese on the canal can be noisy but I'd prefer that to drunken revellers or police sirens at 2am each morning.
Breakfast, as I say, the Ritz this ain't but it is gratis and I'd guess as good as most people would have at home each morning!
Staff could do with being a little smarter but in our experience are always polite and helpful.

The Lowry Centre, Media City and Old Trafford are all within an easy fifteen mins walk

Room Tip: Odd numbers face the canal (see geese comment above).

Hotel is typical Holiday Inn Express. Reception area clean and presentable. Receptionist very pleasant. Room could be in any Holiday Inn Express! Both room and bathroom were clean- which is the basic needs.
Only let down was breakfast. It was absolutely hectic with lots of families-not sure kids in pyjamas is what you should expect in the restaurant of a hotel? It was a Friday which meant a much shorter time slot for breakfast BUT as it was xmas week it might have been prudent to have the 'weekend time slot' for brekkie which would have made it a lot less frantic!
Good price for what we had. Location brilliant for Lowry theatre.
