The Ibis is indeed a budget hotel, very handy for some football stadium or other, Salford Quays and more importantly the Lowry Centre.

The hotel is easily seen from the road, however its access is a little more difficult to see, in that it shares an entry way with the adjoining Ramada Hotel, and a shared common car park. Take care when parking to ensure that you use a space that contains a blue dot, never a red one, else you will incur the wroth of the Ramada staff. Neither of these two points is mentioned in the joining documentation that you receive from the Ibis.

Our room on the seventh floor was clean and basic, with the smallest toilet cubicle that I have ever seen, however, it did have the cleverest room lighting that I have seen, all controlled from a little panel above the bed-head.

To be comfortable in the room, do take:-

Slippers, the floor is wood laminate and vinyl, thus cold!
Hair shampoo, shower gel, these are not provided (small bottles of such can be purchased from reception for £1.00 each).
Clothes that can wrinkle, there is no iron or ironing board within the room (however the hotel may provide one if asked, this was not tested by myself).
There is no kettle provided in the room, so there is no need to take tea, coffee, Bovril or any material to make a hot drink.

The room does have:-

Two incredibly think towels, ask for more.
Two incredibly thin pillows, ask for more, I needed three pillows to gain the comfortable height that I needed.
A gap of approximately 20 inches between the wall and the foot of the bed, so walk 'sideways' to manoeuvre around the bed.

There is no cooked breakfast facility, however a buffet style meal can be had in the lobby area, sadly one which resembles a commercial canteen.

In defence of the Ibis, the charge for the accommodation was £31.00 plus a further £3.00 for being able to park on a blue dot.

However; I normal goto the Premier Inn (situated across from the Ibis on the other side of the the nearby dock), where I invariably secure a room for £29.00 with no charge for parking, plus all the expected items do exist with the Premier Inn rooms. Which is precisely where I went for breakfast in the morning.

So; if you can go elsewhere, do so; there are better deals and more comfortable rooms to be found.

Great service, a really cheap hotel that is clean and fresh and feels like a more expensive hotel. Fabulous hot showers, although the bathroom area is very basic. Breakfast is a buffet, plenty of decent coffee and continental buffet. Two tram stops nearby with a 10/15 minute journey to the city centre

list im a firm believer in what u pay for is what u get

the location and parking of thi hotel is fantastic the place is modern staff are friendly but im guessing this place can get very noisy with party goers as thats all we saw it was like a youth hostel .....

the bed was terrible woke up with a aching back

but if u want a cheap hotel with good parking close to the quays this will do the job nicely

cheers

Dear guest,

We would like to thank you for taking your time and sharing your comments about your recent stay at the Ibis Budget Manchester Salford Quays Hotel in TripAdvisor.

On behalf of the Management and Reception Team, we would like to apologise for any inconvenient you found when you checked in with the mattress. We are, however, glad to read that you found the Reception Team response helpful.

Under the company standards, we do not provide tea and coffee facilities in the rooms. As you well point out, we have 24-hours operative coffee machines that our guests can use. The payment for the hot drinks must be done at reception, even during the breakfast time.

We are happy to see that our staff and services left you with a good impression. Your feedback is very important for us, so that we can keep on improving our standards.

We are looking forward to seeing you again.

Kind regards,

Sergio

Stayed here for 2 nights with Hubby for 6 music festival end of Feb. Check in fine, bit slow but no rush. Only 1 lift was working but we just waited to go up as on 4th floor then took stairs coming down. Room was very basic but clean and all you need to put your head down for the night.Separate shower and toilet which i actually prefer, but yes the toilet is a bit neat, if you like your grub then you might struggle a bit with this.Only issue was needed extra pillow as only 1 each provided, and you have to ask for bath mat (floor does get wet from bottom of shower) asked but there were no pillows left at reception so took one from bunk above us (along with duvet as bit chilly when we were there) Apart from they small things all good. The night staff were really nice ( and patrol the floors so no noise or trouble) and the reception is open to sell food, juice and alcohol 24s hr which is great and no other hotels i've stayed in do this. Lovely to get back, chill out and have a cup of tea or beer and snack before bed (it is not a bar though just machines or a fridge with bottles and cans in case sounds misleading) Location of hotel was brilliant. Trams stop right outside and get into city centre in about 10 minutes, last one about midnight though then its about £12 in a taxi after that. Salford Quays into Media City a 5 minute walk and worth a nice stroll. If you go to Media City theres a nice realxed bar called The Dockyard which has a good well priced selection of Beers, ales, wines etc and does some food. Just next to the Hotel is a Tesco express if you turn right out door, garage next door and eatery over road called matchstick man (i think) which does a mean full breakkie for a fiver with unlimited coffee. Hotel was well worth the money and if you just want a base this is great.

Room Tip: Get higher floor or away from tram line as can be heard
