“Good Value Modern Budget Hotel”
Reviewed August 8, 2013

This is a nice fresh modern hotel. The rooms are basic, but have everything you need - i.e. a bed, shower, toilet, sink and TV.

I stayed in a room which had a double bed and a single bunk over it. The room was modern, clean and fresh - although the toilet cubicle was a little small!

The air conditioning didn't work, so the room got a little hot at 26c (according to the thermostat anyway).

It all seems to have been decorated pretty recently. The place smelt a bit like an outlet of Carpet Right.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for your feedback regarding your recent stay at Ibis Budget Manchester Salford Quays.

We are pleased to read that you enjoyed it and we are looking forward to seeing you again.

Please bear in mind that the hotel does not operate an air-conditioning system, but an air-cooling instead, which helps on saving energy and works depending on the outside temperature.

We apologise if a failure in the system made your stay less pleasant than you wished.

Kind Regards,

Stayed here the night after going to the cricket at Old Trafford and before I potentially moan about lots of things I will say that I paid £29 for this room and I would personally stay here again, but only for that price.

The rooms appear to be very new and clean but are basic. The little things you expect, you don’t get, the rooms have no; telephone, shampoo, shower gel, bedside tables, carpet.

There is no bathroom, the shower opens out into the bedroom. There is a separate toilet and this is very small. The sink for the bathroom is 2 feet from the bed. The bed is simply a very thin mattress on top of a block of wood. The rooms boasted a separate bunk bed.

The AC did not work, setting the temperature seemed to make it go higher throughout the night.

The hotel has onsight parking but at no point did I see an empty space, it’s shares parking with the Ramada hotel next door and the spaces are marked to indicate this. There is parking next to the hotel which is £3.50 for 24 hours, but again this was nearly full and we got lucky when someone happened to be leaving.

There is a Tesco Metro just next to the hotel, which is handy.

Dear Guest,

Many thanks for sharing your impressions of ibis Budget Manchester Salford Quays in TripAdvisor.

Please note that the hotel is not operating air-conditioning but an air-cooling system that works on an energy saving timer and depending on outside temperatures reaching certain levels.

We look forward to welcome you at the hotel.

This was a good value budget hotel. The room was clean, spacious and had the basics- bed, bathroom, towels. The location for Old Trafford is great and there are a few restaurants on the same road and there is a tram stop outside. Parking is only £3.50 per day which is pretty good value for a city.
Major complaint is the heat of the room (stayed in summer but not a super hot day- maybe 22 outside?), there is a unit that looks like air-con but is not (we checked with reception) and just blows air round and doesn't really cool the room. Opening the window is noisy due to the tram stop below and also lets the light in as the blind is attached to the window.

Room Tip: Think they're all the same, some overlook the car park and others the tram line- possibly both a...

Stayed here on my stag with 12 others.

Location was good, just a few min from the city centre.

Price was excellent

Rooms were very basic but very clean and tidy

Guys at reception sold alcohol up to 5am in the lobby

Not a place for family really

Will decently return in future again

Firstly, I would like to say that this is a budget hotel, and therefore budget is what you should expect! It appears some people have been expecting the full Ibis service, and ignoring the clue in the name! It is a budget hotel in most aspects. The rooms and décor are modern yet simple, the breakfast is basic, and the car park is shared and on a first come first served basis. The room was clean, though it had a smell of paint (as did most of the rest of the hotel as it appears to be being renovated) The temperature in the hotel was very warm and the air conditioner just seemed to move the air around but not cool it. The staff were helpful when asked for local information. The lift that people mentioned isn't working from some time ago still isn't working. On the second morning there was no coffee (machines not working) and no bread rolls.
A very good location for Cricket or Football, Old Trafford Cricket Ground was just about 15 mins walk away, Football ground is closer still. There is a metrolink station 1 minute away and there are plenty of convenience stores, food outlets, chain pub/restaurants etc.
All in all what you would expect from a budget hotel.

Dear Guest,

Many thanks for reviewing the hotel in TripAdvisor following your recent stay with us.

Please note that one of the lifts has been and will be out of service for the foreseeable future as now we are awaiting decision for a full replacement. I am sorry that this marred your stay as there is only one lift in operation at the moment.

I have also noted your comments regarding breakfast.

The team and I would delighted to welcome you again at the hotel in your next visit to Manchester.

Stayed here for 2 nights as it was close to the cricket ground (about 15/20 min walk). Good location and number of pubs and resturants under a 5 min walk away along with a Tram stop into Manchester. Rooms basic but clean and tidy but very small (air con is not the most efficient given if was so warm that weekend). Staff were friendly from the contact we had with them.

Good points: Cheap, Excellant location, Cheap car park (£3 overnight) and clean room (a little to clean as a over keen cleaner threw away some leaflets/receipts that we needed!)

Bad points: Small room, toliet and shower was a very strange experience given the size of each but was OK for a the legth of time we stayed, Lift has been out of order for months according to one of the guest we spoke to.

Overall: If you can get a room for under £40 you wont be disappointed and does what it says on the tin

We paid £42 for a Saturday night stay when the Test Match was being played at Old Trafford.Extremely good value when other hotels in the area were cashing in.Basic room which was what we expected.Only fault was the heat in the room which we couldn't regulate.
Didn't eat here but you could have breakfast for under £5.Snacks available.
