we stayed for one night to attend a birthday party in the area.
we had a very friendly welcome and were shown quickly to our room.
the room was a good size double with en-suite facilities, tea & coffee suplies were plentiful and waredrobe space very good.
the room was acceptably clean and the bathroom was a little dusty in those hard to reach areas but generally ok.
we had an evening meal which was very good indead - well cooked and presented and tasted lovely and the breakfast was very good too, the bacon in particular.
overall we thought the malt house was probably the best accomodation in the area and we had an enjoyable weekend.

We were invited to a family wedding at Berkeley Castle. There does not seem to be much choice for accommodation in the immediate area to the castle. We chose the Malt House . It is a pub/restaurant with rooms. Our family arrived en-masse about 11am but every effort had been made to get the rooms ready for us. Our triple room was clean, comfortable and quite spacious. If you are worried about late night noise from the pub you don't need to. The bar is shut by 11pm so the residents are not disturbed. If you want a late night drink the Berkeley Arms serves later. The cold breakfast buffet was very limited but the cooked breakfast was good and served promptly. Do not expect deluxe luxury- but it fits the bill quite nicely. We enjoyed our stay- thanks.

I work away from home for a living and have done for the last 10 years. This is now my second home and I love it. It has great beer and awesome food.
I would recommend it to anyone, as long as there is still room for me.

We were not planning to stay here as we wanted to be booked into the nearby Tortworth hotel, but as they were full of Saga holiday people, we were directed by a company secretary to stay here.
As soon as we got there we knew if was a great decision and by the end of the first night had cancelled our booking at the other hotel for the week after.
The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant and the food that we had over our stay was excellent. My only complaint would be there was too much food to be able to have a dessert.
Excellent room, multi channel TV etc. Internet is free but limited in availability due to the thick walls, but the owners is working on a way of improving that for the future.
Overall a great find and we will be using this hotel again and again.

Arrived 5:30pm, rooms available and v clean. Good
Tv with lots of channels. Barman was very friendly and looked after our needs. Unfortunately we had to leave at 06:15 so couldn't make breakfast, when we told the landlady she immediately offered to make us packed lunches instead to take with us after dinner that evening. Bar food was plentiful and very tasty, we had five different meals and all equally as good as the next. We travel all over the uk to sporting events and would definately recommend this hotel to friends and colleagues.

Stayed here when attending a friend's wedding at the nearby castle. Upon arrival, reception locked and no one to be found anywhere in the establishment. Our room had very old bathroom complete with wall to wall carpet. Cobwebs hanging from the ceiling over bed. We were asked to vacate our room in the morning (it was 11:30am) by the extremely unpleasant manager/owner.
This place needs a major update and also nreeds a thorough cleaning.

Once we found a member of staff we were taken to a lovely spacious room which looked like it had just be redecorated.A big flat screen tv on the wall was a nice surprise although we didn't get much time to use it. We ate in the restaurant in the evening, the home-made chips are a must! There was a friendly atmosphere in the bar and staff were very welcoming. Excellent breakfast and looking forward to returning.
