Room was booked for one night as a stop-over on the way somewhere else. It was easy to find and next to the motorway (but far enough back to avoid a soundtrack of articulated lorries). The grounds and communal areas were lovely and we received a lovely warm welcome.
The room itself was a strange mix – the bed and bedroom area seemed to be recently refurbished (comfortable bed, wallpapered ‘feature’ wall) but the other half of the room seemed to be old. Very old. The wardrobe smelled strange and the bathroom was in desperate need of a facelift.
As mentioned, the bed was super comfortable but unfortunately there were other things to disturb sleep. Why do people never consider light sources when designing hotel rooms – stuff like the TV clock and the minibar all are annoying sources of light! Despite that, all was good until the people around me got up; rumbling round and we all competed for the world’s noisiest electric shower.
Given the choice and for the price I would stay somewhere else.More
