Lets talk a beautiful interjection of sun into a lengthy spell of poor British weather. Lets find a place to eat on the way back from Devon to the midlands. Lets chance leave the motorway headed for Stroud and stumble across the stonehouse. Then lets eat one phenomenal Sunday dinner. To my partner (midlands born and bred ) a Sunday dinner is as important as oxygen to the blood. To say this was the best is a bold statement, but it could be the one. Yes it's £18 odd for 2 courses and £23 for 3 but damn is it worth it (you pay that at TGI / a n other brand!) but it us sublime. First place I have had beef cooked correctly (medium - for topside and it was properly medium) and the veg al dente. Roasts to die for and what a setting. I could go on ;)

Really good food ,excellent service and a very reasonably priced wine list. Could have managed without the canned music but then we are grumpy wrinklies !

This is a very friendly place in a delightful setting. The Stonehouse Hotel is a very elegant old building and the decor is, though a bit outdated, in line with the place. The food is good, we really liked the lamb.
All in all, a pleasant experience.

We had 2 courses each, one having starter, one having pudding and shared - this was enough food as it was all beautifully cooked, good portions, and very delicious. Food was locally sourced too. The bread at the beginning from a local bakery was excellent and the wines suggested matched the food very well. They keep the music low and the restaurant is set in a lovely wood panelled room where tables are nicely spaced apart. Worth the money for the experience you have - we couldn't fault it (and we are fussy!).
