“The place to stay in the Forest of Dean”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 3, 2012

On arrival was warmly greeted by Chris and Nigel and thoughout the stay they could not do enough for us.The Room was of exceptional quality with one of the most comnfortable beds we have used, thanks to the memory Foam mattress.
The wet room was fantastic with plenty of Hot Water.
We think the best place to eat is The Miners Arms in a nearby village(walk straight down New Road)
Whatever we wanted Chris came up trumps and am so impressed that we will recommend to everybody who would care to listen.
(Pity about the weather though !)

We had a wonderful weekend away here so we could take part in the forest of Dean half marathon. Excellent service, nice open house and clean rooms with everything you could ask for. Breakfast was first class. Couldn't recommend it any higher.

Room Tip: ground floor room has a window opening directly onto the driveway which means you have to keep the c...

Located on the edge of a small village right in the middle of the Forest of Dean and ideal for walking or cycling. A short weekend break which was booked at the last minute. Luckily there was a cancellation so we were able to get a room. I’m very glad we did! What a lovely place, probably the best guest house I’ve ever stayed in. Lovely hosts in Christine and Nigel Preest where nothing was too much trouble and they really did make you feel genuinely welcome. Room was great but the bathroom was fabulous. Food was lovely and freshly cooked with a very good choice. Loads of attention to detail which made this stay special. A seriously good B&B, you really need to experience this one! Definitely one to which I would return without hesitation.

Room Tip: Room 2 has a lovely bathroom. Not sure about the others

We stayed here for a weekend in february, what a fab find :-) believe me I would highly recommend this to everyone. Our room was spotless it had everything you need, including comfy bed, egyptian bedding, tea and coffee faciliaties, flat screen tv and a lovely en suite bathroom . There is also a communial living room with a lovely open fire. The owners were very helpful and went out of their way to ensure you enjoy your stay. They were able to provide us with information leaflets on local places of interest and good restaurants. There is a pub close by (literally next door), that serves good food to. I have stayed in some hotels were you will not recieve this quality. Only one issue is if you use booking.com, they do not take the money up front, so you have to pay at end of your stay, not a bad thing just remember to pay.

My husband and I have just had a lovely long weekend for our joint birthdays at Deanfield in the Forest of Dean. The B&B was wonderful, everything you could want and more. Our room was immaculate, furnished with everything you could want and had gorgeous soft egyptian cotton bedding. It had a beautiful ensuite shower / wet room which looked brand new. There was a flat screen TV which also had a build in DVD player with a selection of DVDs. The cooked breakfasts were lovely and also included fresh fruit, cereals, pastries etc. An added bonus was the guest lounge which had a large flatscreen TV and a toasty warm log fire in the evenings which was really appreciated after a day out walking in the cold. Chris was really friendly and she was very helpful in regards to the local area / maps / guide books / leaflets etc. There is a pub two doors down which we ate in and the food was really nice (The Woodman) and it had a good choice for veggies). This B&B is really well located to explore the local area and we would highly recommend a visit to Tintern and Tintern Abbey. If we go back to this area which I hope we will, this will definately be our first port of call.

Room Tip: Room 1 is located on the ground floor which may be helpful for those who struggle with stairs.

A lovely warm welcome and a spotlessly clean place to stay. You couldn't ask for a nicer couple and a lovelier breakfast. Lots of good tips too for places to visit and eat. Chris even managed to find a very cheap shop for me to pick up some walking socks that I had forgotten to pack. Thank you for a welcome break.

Room Tip: Upstairs is probably quiter
