“Great Find”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 18, 2013

Stayed with friends for one night having found a voucher on line offering bed, breakfast and seven course tasting menu for £140.00 per couple! Excellent value and the hotel itself is a stunning Queen Anne House within its own grounds. Although the hotel is a little dated, the rooms are huge and overall, the facilities are very good. We took our two dogs and the staff are all very dog friendly. The service was excellent and dinner was very good. The wine selection is amazing and you would expect to find their list in a more expensive restaurant.

Highly recommend The Corse Lawn!

After a gap of 20 years, paid a return visit and were not disappointed. The excellent standard of hotel keeping by the Hine family still very much in evidence. Set back from the road with carriage drive and large pond in front, in the village of Corse Lawn, it looks very imposing. The hotel is furnished and decorated to a high standard in the style and character of this country house hotel. We had "Chaceley" bedroom on the first floor at the side of the hotel with large windows overlooking the car park and countryside beyond. The room was nicely furnished in traditional style, well decorated and with a very generous hospitality tray of loose tea, and ground coffee, home made shortbread biscuits and a bowl of fresh fruit, together with a tea pot and cafetiere and a small fridge with fresh milk and still and sparkling mineral waters. The en suite bathroom was very clean, nicely decorated in traditional style. The over bath shower was possibly on the weak side by modern standard.

In the evening we had dinner in the restaurant, which was excellent with good quality food, well cooked and nicely presented by a skilled kitchen brigade with considerable flair. The wine list had wines from around the world with prices ranging from £20 per bottle to well into three figures. Breakfast the following morning was again to a very high standard, freshly squeezed orange juice, muesli topped with a selection of fresh fruit, and a traditional cooked breakfast, all again top quality, well cooked and nicely presented.

Staff were at all times friendly, efficient and professional and made one feel welcome and "at home" in this large country house hotel. Definitely one to return to, and not wait another 20 years !!

We looked for a spot half way between Penzance and York close to the Cotswalds and near Gloucester and came across the Corse Lawn House Hotel. What a find! It should have been an intentional destination! We had two rooms and both were extremely comfortable, well appointed and supplied with tea and biscuits as well as fruit. Breakfast was delightful, everything we could have asked for! Unfortunately due to our travels in the neighbouring countryside we were not there for other meals - will have to go back. Definitely a treat! Very friendly and helpful staff! The best marmalade ever! Swimming pool a great refresher.

Lovely hotel, homely and staff very friendly. Excellent dining experience in the restaurant. Seven course meal was part of package the whole experience was great. Following day the Ledbury Hunt met so was a good way to experience the countryside, will be back.

Room Tip: Lovely spa bath in the suite and relaxing quiet room.

We have visited CLHH several times and on this occasion chose to attend the special 'game dinner' evening in the restaurant. Each of the savoury courses featured different game and the whole experience was just what we expected from such a good hotel restaurant. Service was as good as ever.

We had booked a room for an overnight stay and following a warm welcome in reception were given spacious accommodation in a corner room. There is always fresh fruit and fresh coffee in the room and fresh milk in the fridge. While we were at dinner the room was tidied and the bed turned down. Breakfast the next morning was excellent, freshly cooked and served to our table.
If you are accustomed to the 'boutique experience' that is so fashionable these days then CLHH may not be for you but if you want traditional hospitality allied to good food, comfortable rooms and great service then seek it out. We shall certainly return at the earliest opportunity.

We have just returned from a short break to this hotel and loved every minute. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable and the fruit and biscuits were a nice touch, as were the tea leaves and strainer! We had the seven course tasting menu and enjoyed every course! Breakfast was very filling but I will agree with other reviewers on here, there was no brown sauce!!! It was a shame the indoor pool was out of action but we didn't really miss it. All in all a really lovely stay in a gorgeous hotel. Would definitely go again

From the moment we arrived I liked this place. It's in a lovely Queen Anne Grade II Listed building. We were taken to our room, which was lovely. In our room we found real coffee, tea leaves (not bags) and fresh milk in the fridge, home made shortbread and a nice selection of fruit.

I'll do a separate review of the restaurant, where we had a great evening meal. Breakfast was delicious. Service was prompt and attentive, and all staff were great. The owner, Baba Hine is a fascinating person to talk to.

I'd rather spend just one night here than two in some chain hotels I've stayed in, and we managed to get a very favourable rate here. I wish some other hoteliers would stay here to learn how it should be done! I'm struggling to think of when I've stayed in a nicer hotel.
