My partner and stayed at Corse Lawn for two nights on a travelzoo voucher. The place is as lovely as it looks and we found the staff to be very friendly and professional. The food is great and we loved the relaxed atmosphere - you can sit on the sofa by the fire having a predinner drink while the menu is brought to you and you can have your after dinner tea or coffee brought to you there as well. The front of house staff are a real asset to the place, warm and friendly and even waved us off at the door. I can see why people return here again and again. As some of the other reviewers have said, some bits of the place could do with a lick of paint; but for us that was part of the charm and the suite we stayed in was clean, comfortable and quiet. If you want an ultra-modern place with the biggest, flashiest flatscreen TVs and power showers go elsewhere - but that's not really the point of this hotel.

Room Tip: We stayed in the "Antique" suite which was quite spacious, got a great couple of nights...

If a 3 star hotel and gardens can look this good in early March then I look forward to returning in better weather.
It is often the little things that matter and a variety of fresh fruit , proper Coffee ( I have not touched instant for many years) and fresh milk in room fridge are welcome reminders to other places that the effort is worthwhile.
Rooms are very spacious and very conducive to relaxation.
We had the Taster menu and the food was very good with extensive wine list. Service and reception excellent . Breakfast very good , their take on black pudding more like Foie Gras but very enjoyable.
Has many features and amenities beyond the normal 3 star rating and thelovely setting and grounds are very conducive to a laid back stay.
We shall return.

We used a Travelzoo voucher and had a 7 course taster meal.
The entire experience was lovely. We were welcomed in and sat by a roaring log fire to have our canapes and bubbles. Then through to the dining room for an absolute feast for the senses. The food looked and tasted divine, it was lovely to taste different dishes that perhaps you wouldn't usually have (Husband always usually a steak man!). The waiting staff were attentive, knowledgable and very pleasent.
Would throughly reccomend, maybe next time it would be nice to stay and try the breakfast too!

I booked this through a Secret Escapes deal, which gave us dinner, bed and breakfast at a very good rate. The rooms at Corse Lawn are not modern but are attractive, spacious and very comfortable. We stayed in the 'blue' room on the ground floor, which didn't strike us as being 'dark' as others have said.

The staff were most helpful throughout our stay but I had the misfortune to speak to the same
person twice before we arrived and his manner was very brusque, which nearly prevented me from booking at all. I had asked for non-feather pillows as I suffer from asthma and these had not been provided on arrival, although this was sorted out very quickly.

The food was excellent both at dinner and at breakfast. My husband was particularly impressed with the amazing cheeseboard and the very extensive wine list, and I had the most delicious and tender lamb for my main meal.

Outside, we were pleased to watch a helicopter landing on the helipad and to find that the 'duckpond' was originally a carriage turning and washing point which I've not come across before. We saw the ponies in the distance and glanced in at the swimming pool but didn't have time for a walk or swim. Inside, the lounge was friendly and we had our post meal coffee in there over a game of Scrabble.

We never felt rushed at any time, and overall our stay was lovely - we would return.

Don't expect contemporary, staying here is like stepping back in time. Antique furniture, open fires, large rooms with fruit, real tea, coffee, biscuits, and milk. Staff have always been friendly and welcoming which is one of the reason I continue to return. This hotel has a quiet quality and charm about it and offers something a little more tradtional.

The hotel was very pleasant had a lovely stay rooms were large and the facilities were excellent. The breakfast was also lovely and all in all a lovely stay. There is a lovely duck pond in front with seating and as there is no traffic it made it a very peaceful morning in the cold sun.
Thank you

This was the first time my wife and I had stayed at Corse Lawn, for my wife's birthday treat. She was recommended the place by her hairdresser, so even though we'd seen the website, we had no presuppositions as to what it would be like. The house itself is historic and substantial. Once you get inside, you can see that the owner has (very wisely) NOT given in to the fad for shallow and empty makeovers that have ruined so many other establishments around the country. So here you won't find polished, noisy floors, sterile minimalism and other designer crap that makes you feel you've wandered on to the set of Fritz Lang's Metropolis! What you do have is sumptuous soft carpets with quiet footfalls, comfy seats while you take your tea (or evening meal, for that matter), cosy, comforting decor and a generalfeeling of warmth and relaxation. The staff are excellent and ready and willing to help in every way possible, and the facilities are top notch. When I asked for camomile tea in our room, I was delighted to receive a bowl of genuine camomile flowers (not teabags) with the pot and cup. In afct the tea and cofee making items include real leaf tea and ground coffee, a wide selection of fruit and very high class biscuits for your consumption. The room was beautifully furnished with classic luxurious textiles in calming and relaxing colours -some reviewers here have claimed that the decor is 'tired' or outdated. Of course this is nonsense, except to the trendy set who like colours schemes to sear your eyeballs (when they're not being deafened by the noisy polished floors!).
The view around the back of the house was excellent, and even the car park is laid out in a civilised manner with plenty of trees and shrubs to smooth off the lines.
In the evening the meal in the restuarant was excellent, even though the place was packed to the gills and the waiters were very busy, they were all polite and accomodating. The food itself is terrific, and tastes like nothing you'll have experienced before. Babar (the proprietess, if that's the correct term) really knows how to add subtle touches to the food to make it unique, distinctive and delicious, and the wine selection is classy and within the reach of most of us.
Breakfast next morning was again excellent, with local produce well to the fore.
Any problems -only one tiny whinge, and that's the rather limited TV coverage, but I'm guessing that's via the service provider. I've found similar restrictions elsewhere from much 'higher level' establishments.
Overall, a superb experience and we'll be back again very soon. This place is a bit of a well kept secret and all the better for it, and Babar has NO plans for qa makeover -ever! This classic establishment's decor and ambience is assured and secured for the foreseeable future. Many thanks!
