“Peaceful old England”
Reviewed July 29, 2012

A wonderful old hotel in the countryside with delightful bedrooms and bathrooms. Excellent food and wine list. Very caring and attentive staff, who have a genuine interest in your welfare.
Well worth visiting for a weekend break.

My favorite place to eat when in the area. The Bistro is always excellent and the standards high, the service can be a bit hit or miss. Good value for the standard and the owner is always around and checks all is ok.

Well worth a visit but be sure to book as its a very popular venue !

The Corse Lawn on a sunny day is a wonderful place to sit down & enjoy a drink and a light meal.

The food I have eaten there has generally been good (not amazing, but never disappointing). The grounds are beautiful and the BBQ smelled delicious (wish we had tried it). They can cater for events with ease and the staff were helpful and polite.

Overall, jolly good.

We are lucky to live within 10 miles of this excellent hotel and choose it several times a year as a treat. Our recent visit confirmed the excellent choice of food and quality of cuisine and service. We used the restaurant, and on this Saturday evening it was very full- always a good sign, but that did not prevent the service from being up to its high standard. Guests (mostly mature, like us! ) were so well catered for that the general air of pleasure communicated itself and contributed to an excellent ambience. It's not the hotel's fault that the dreadful weather prevented us from taking drinks or coffee on the lovely terrace but we made do with the comfortable sofas in the lounge.

We stayed one night at the Corse Lawn Hotel. We were greeted very warmly by all the staff and made to feel most welcome - which was lovely as we had bought our elderly labrador with us. Although the bedroom was a bit tired and could definitely do with some updating, we had absolutely no complaints about the service or the food. Our evening meal in the main restaurant was excellent, and we both thoroughly enjoyed each dish we ordered. The cheese trolley was possibly one of the best we have seen in any restaurant. Breakfast the next morning was equally as good and enjoyable with some good choices and everything cooked to order (i.e. no buffet).

We stayed at the Corse Lawn for just one night whilst in the area for a friend's birthday. Because of his celebrations we were only on Bed & Breakfast, but would love to return and try the food as it looked - and smelt - lovely!
Nice gracious greeting, very nice "English Country House Hotel" room. Yes, a little dated but everything such a room should be and exactly what we expected. Comfy bed.Lots of nice touches - proper milk, homemade biscuits, latest magazines etc. Lovely greeting when we returned late in the evening (with no hint of us having kept them up) and one of the best breakfasts for ages.
We will definitely return and plan to bring my elderly mother who will just love the Corse Lawn and rejoice in the fact that such hotels still exist - only in England!

Set in the heart of North Gloucestershire I had an unscheduled night stop because of a raging tooth abcess! Lucky me to find a warm welcome from the staff and a spacious, comfortingly old fashioned room but with every single creature comfort one could want from home made biscuits, a tea caddy, tea pot to a comfortable sofa to relax in after a pretty gruelling day! The Forthampton four poster (divinely comfortable bed) room overlooks a large pond with ducks, doves, geese pottering happily around and an array of carefully, (but not manicured) flowerbeds. I took an evening walk down a beautifully mown long pathway to one of the bridle walks through the other gardens (including a tennis court, putting green, swimming pool) and stepped back into a land of birdsong and rabbits scampering about their way, a virtual snapshot of the best of rural England. This visit I didn't eat for obvious reasons but Baba Hinds' truly delicious food is something not to be missed and has been top notch consistently over the years. Well done Corse Lawn - don't ever change!
