After booking this travel lodge for 4 days to visit family previous reviews got us worried, we arrived and had trouble checking in as the agent had booked it under the wrong name (Janet was extremely helpful and we were sorted after 2 phone calls), we stayed in room 320 and what can I say, big room for a family of 4, 2 single beds and a double in middle, room was immaculate, towels replaced daily, slightly disappointed that our milks coffee and sugars weren't replaced daily (until last day).... very quiet room (part from the night we arrived (friday night) u cud here room of girls next door to us but soon quietened down) overall excellent stay David and Janet were lovely and we're coming back yearly and would quite happily book here again, frankly and benny's over road, mangetout restaurant below, then a full high street of cafes, Mcdonald, KFC, burger king, clothes shops the works ..... definitely ignore bad reviews xxx

This hotel must have one of the most unattractive entrances in this part of Britain. We went into an empty box, and a soulless lift took us to the second floor. But the welcome was very friendly, and the staff extremely helpful. To avoid the noisier rooms facing the street, we took the room tailored for those with special needs - which was very comfortable and spacious, although since we had no special needs, we found the bathroom fixtures rather low! We didn't take advantage of the breakfast boxes. In any case, the High Street is a block away, and there are more than adequate facilities there. The hotel is conveniently and centrally located, clean and comfortable. We would use it again if we were in this part of Essex.

Room Tip: The non-street side is quieter.

Excellent overnight stay on 2 occasions. Close enough to airport and right in the heart of Southend. The entrance is not very inviting, but don't let this put you off as the hotel itself is very clean and the rooms very good. If visiting at weekend it can be noisy outside so ask for a room away from the fromt street. The staff are very welcoming and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Can recommend and we are staying again in May.

Myself and my partner stayed at the Travelodge, Southend On Sea on Saturday 22nd March. After reading some reviews on this site we discovered that there were a number of people writing about the level of noise coming from the nightclub at the front of the building. I telephoned and arranged with a very helpful member of staff (David)to have a 'quiet' room. The room was fine and there was no noise from the night club. We discovered though, during the early hours of the morning, that the 'family' room close to ours had been booked out to a group of women, who after returning from a night out proceeded to drunkenly shout, scream, continuously slam their door and parade around the corridors whilst on their mobile phones. This went on until approximately 5am. Not wishing to cause trouble, we remained in our room expecting the reception or security staff to deal with the problem, which they didn't. On checking out, and being asked if we enjoyed our stay, we informed the receptionist of our experience, who, whilst apologetic, did not seem overly concerned or surprised. It seemed as if this kind of thing happened every weekend.

One night booking needed for an early flight on a Monday night. Booking/price/checkin all good.

Room clean, hotel receptionist friendly & helpful, although lack of receptionist after 8pm when finding we only had one towel.

Settled down for the night at 9.30pm only to be disturbed by club music downstairs until 2am. Just what u need with a 4am alarm.

Note to self, read trip advisor about area and ask for a room away from road.

Other than that, an ok stay.
