“CHECKOUT CONFUSION”
Reviewed July 19, 2013

we stayed at this hotel for the weekend13th and 14th july and it was outstanding we had rooms 323 and 324 with a balcony an absolute bliss at first we was going to leave on sunday but extended our stay until monday on 323,the rooms were splendid and so was yoshy the lady at reception nothing was too much trouble even locating us a wheelchair to hire, extra pillows more tea coffee could wish for a better stay ,breakfast fab service excellent also the bar has fab view,The Checkout came ,i was in a hurry to leave as i have a business to run when i was confronted by a arragant man in reception who wanted to charge me alot more for the extended stay than i was quoted, when i refused to pay he tried to insist that i didnt leave the hotel so i payed for the saturday night stay and asked the manager to call me with regard to the sunday night stay which they did and all was ok,but the male receptionist at 6,30 am made me feel intimidated and nervous and completely ruined my weekend and on top of that this took 45 minutes so i was late opening my business ,my advice is checkout on the sunday so you can leave nice and relaxed on the monday, just to add i will be returning to this hotel to give it a second try as the stay was outstanding.and so was the check inn so hopefully we will going back on the 4th august for a 50th birthday in our family,if the manager of this hotel would like to reply i would be very greatful if he can e mail me.

Room Tip: high floor with a balcony a must

Located near the Pier and fun park, 10 minutes walk from the station, 5 minutes walk from the shops and beach. this is a very convenient place to stay.
Its a pleasant clean hotel. The bar area and lounge are open and airy with good views.
Prices are typical of an hotel of this size.
My room (401) was large, well appointed and comfortable.
However there was no wardrobe, just a few hangers on what was no larger than a night stand. I was staying on my own for business for two nights and three days, so able to make use of both stands. If you are a couple staying longer this would be most inconvenient.
On the whole I would recomend it for a very short stay or business use.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back overlooking the car park may be quiter than those overlooking the sea front where...

Combination hotel and private appartments, though very discrete.

Easy to find, and parking opposite.

Granted on such a hot weekend, rooms on the front with balcony were a god send, didn't need the aircon on, just a cooling breeze.

(Just remember the seafront fun fair is open until late if you want an early night, or just close the balcony door).

Pretty sure we'll stay there again next time we are down that way

Room Tip: Any on the front with a balcony on such a sunny weekend

I did enjoy staying here whilst working in Southend for a week. On the first night I arrived after a 5 hour drive and didn't fancy going out to find a restaurant. The hotel restaurant was closed but the bar served the room service menu, which was adequate. Breakfast each morning was buffet style and offered a reasonable choice of cooked and cold foods, though the cereals selection was bit limited. Service was efficient and friendly from the check-in, where all my questions (parking, gym, dining) were anticipated, to the bar and breakfast service. There is a reasonable gym with CV and weights machines, through free weights are very limited.
My room was a reasonable size, tastefully decorated and kept perfectly clean each day. Room facilities were pretty standard, suffice i to say that the shower was strong and hot.
One downside was the absence of hotel parking facilities. There is a public multi-storey directly opposite but the 24-hour rate is £19 and although this is discounted to £5 by the hotel for the first night it's expensive for longer stays. The hotel advised, helpfully, that there's a (flat) public car-park around the corner for £10 per day. I found that the street next to that car-park is free parking and left my car there all week without any trouble.
Overall I'd be happy to stay here again if I repeat the business trip, though I may not risk the car next time.

I stayed here on business for one night and the location is good just 5 minutes from the station and on the sea front. On check in I asked for a quiet room with a sea view and was told no sea view available as the hotel was full. I was given a room facing the car park on the 4th floor. Room was quite large due being suitable for disabled access (not requested) The bathroom was huge but a wet room without a bath. The shower was very low forcing me to crouch and Water pressure was poor with the design of the room resulting in water everywhere and very slow to drain away. No toiletries other than soap were provided. Bed was very hard but bedding and linen clean. Towels were a bit rough to the touch. The air con very noisy so I had to turn it off. Breakfast was very busy but only average with the usual cereals, fruit and meats. Cooked items looked greasy so I didn't try anything. As a vegetarian there was limited choice but to be fair I didn't ask if there was anything else on offer. I had cereal and toast with tea which was brought to the table. Check out was ok but the whole experience was nothing out of the ordinary and I doubt I will stay again on my next trip.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor but don't expect a sea view unless you pay extra

Our stay at the park in was marvelous. The staff were very professional and courteous. The place was very modern and nice looking. I especially want to commend on Tomasz from the park inn staff. Tomasz gave outstanding service and gets 5 stars for hospitality!

We were generally impressed with this hotel. One thing that stands out is the customer service which is consistently good - staff were always friendly and helpful despite it being a very busy weekend with the hotel full.

We had a large business class room on the 4th floor which has great sea/pier views. You do get a bit of noise from attractions on the pier but I thought that just added to the pleasant atmosphere. We slept well, the bed was very comfortable.

The only problem with the room was that it was a wi-fi blackspot - the signal stopped in the hallway. Given this was supposed to be a business class room I would have expected they would have had boosters in appropriate places. Mobile phone coverage was patchy in the hotel, so if you need to be connected this might be a problem.

Breakfast was excellent and the restaurant also has good views.

The hotel has no car park, it does have an overnight deal with the car park opposite, but bewarned - leave after 9am and you'll have to pay £15 - so quite expensive.

Room Tip: High floor, facing sea
