Description: The Green Man at Lindsell is celebrating its second succesful year under the present management and we are pleased to welcome both old and new customers. In our cosy bar we have retained the buildings original features and given it a fresh contemporary edge where we welcome both drinkers and diners alike and our tables are available on a 'first come' basis offering an extensive range of dishes from salads, sharing planks to wholesome pub classics. Our 70 seat a la carte restaurant to the rear of the property is also not to be missed, with crisp white linen, delicious food and an extensive wine list making it the ideal place for lunch, dinner or any other special occasions. Bookings are welcome and recommended. We also have a large terrace area and extensive garden to dine alfresco or enjoy a champagne cocktail. We welcome families and have plenty of space for children to play. So come on in and take a look around and we hope to see you soon!

After visiting the Moat House Residential Home, my Wife and I needed somewhere for lunch. We found the nearby Green Man by following the brown tourist sign from the B184. From the external appearance, we expected a traditional English pub, but internally, the building has been 'revamped' to create a 'gastro' pub environment. Our orders were taken at the Bar, and we were seated nearby. Unfortunately, 'our' small round table was too closely situated to the bar area, with the consequential disturbance as further diners arrived. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our meal.

I was there for Sunday lunch for the first hour or so the restaurant was empty, but the service was appalling! Slow and not very diligent at all, my starter was completely forgotten, not until the other persons starter plate was being cleared did I enquire after mine. Apologies ensued as did my starter! The food is excellent, no complaint whatever for taste, quality and presentation except my roast pigeon breast consisted of only 2 slices from the breast and NOT the breast. Beware the ice cream is expensive and watery and also beware of being overcharged, which we were. That we will return is positive in thr hope the service and bill has improved

We visited the Green Man with friends who live in the area, on their recommendation on a Thursday night. They have got the atmosphere pitched just right, an upmarket gastro-pub: tables are well spaced so that you are not on top of each other and the overall ambience works well.

The menu was varied: one criticism would be that there were just a few too many options. The food was very good: well prepared, just the right amount.

Service was good: friendly and reasonably paced between courses.

Overall the price was reasonable and about what we would have expected. Would we go back?: definitely.

Made unplanned stop to The Green Man for a quick lunch and were very impressed. Good selection of very tempting dishes ... Prompt service and just the right amount of attentiveness.

The food was superb lovely scallops, fish and chips lovely crispy batter, GREAT chips with smashing mushy peas and tartare sauce. But the star of the show was the Pork dish.. Presentation and flavour way up there..

Very good value 1 starter 2 mains and a bottle of nice wine 53 pounds ....

Constructive criticism ... First thing we were told by the waiter when we sat down was what was not available from the menu.. When in fact it had already been removed from the menu.. Just could of been handled in a less negative way .. Obviously we needed to know it was not available, also on a neighbouring table a certain soft drink was not available again .. Just told we have run out, no suggested replacement made .. Very tiny points and meant in a constructive way.

We will definately be returning

By far the best restaurant I have eaten in within a reasonable distance of our home in Harlow for a long time. Well presented, yummy grub and some very nice touches. The scallops were out of this world! Would have given five stars, but slight muddles over the presentation of the bill - and perhaps some of the pudds, although delicious, could have been a bit more original. But overall a fantastic restaurant!
