Homelye Farm Courtyards
Ranked #5 of 8 Great Dunmow B&B and Inns
Reviewed March 24, 2012

Flying from stansted, we tried to book at a B&B which was full, and they recommended Homelye Farm, what a stroke of good fortune, beautifully restored farm buildings, c/h, ensuite, spotlessly clean, a superb breakfast and what an obliging host, Neil. Have no hesitation in giving this four super stars.

Room Tip: Any room will be great, so quiet

Sometimes you find little gems that you don't really want to share because you want to keep it for yourself... But I can't do it... This is exceptional value, with lovely 'cottage' style rooms and a fab breakfast (go for the cheese and mushroom omelette - you'll thank me). And at an price that truly belies the quality. Now, just keep it to yourself please so I can still get a room next time.

Now I never normally stay in a B&B but this place completely changed my perception (after a couple of bad experiences at others over the years!). A warm welcome, your own little barn room/chalet. Very clean and spacious. I have stayed here 3 times over the past year for business and each time it has been a lovely experience. Oh and the breakfast is great

This place is great value with quiet, clean, spacious rooms and bathrooms with a very helpful and friendly host serving excellent breakfasts but the bed in our room (the Pykle) was very hard and lumpy. Even after arriving at 1am we took two hours to get to sleep because of the discomfort. Because of its convenience to Stansted airport we would like to stay again but only with the assurance of a different bed/ room.
To be avoided by back trouble sufferers!

Relaxed, friendly, informal and efficient. Top quality B&B on a working mixed 130 acre farm. The rooms are very well-appointed with huge shower-room with top quality powerful shower. The dining area is light, roomy but cosy. Breakfasts are out of this world with top quality ingredients, freshly cooked and very attentive service. All of the wedding party thought the same. Neil and Tracy deserve the top ratings they get consistently from this and other sites and if they ever give up farming, have what it takes to run a top class hotel (and we are VERY picky!). Best in Essex and they are really genuinely nice people. Neil likes his wildlife live rather than shot, so I was welcome to wander round his substantial wood, and Ruth nearly came away with a lamb. By personal arrangement, Neil can drive you into Stanstead, leaving your car off. What more can we say? The owners seem really to enjoy running their B&B, have a good sense of humour, are always around but not in your face. A real pleasure, and we are not related!

Room Tip: They are all good, bar conversions so can park right outside and modern interiors

We stayed here for 2 nights while visiting the area and attending a concert at Audley End. On arriving we were quickly booked in and shown to our room. The room was very pleasent with plenty of storage space, wall mounted TV, an en suite bathroom with a good shower, nice thick towels and complimentary toiletries. The hospitality tray was also a nice touch, as was the free Wi Fi in the room. The bed was very comfortable and hubby and I both slept really well. Breakfast is served in a converted barn, with an outside courtyard where you can have your breakfast while admiring the lovely countryside and enjoying the peace and quiet. There is a buffet style area for cereals, pastries, yoghurts etc plus a cooked menu available. My husband enjoyed his Farmers Breakfast and I had the poached eggs on toast. In the evening the barn doubles as bar with comfy sofas and a TV.
The owners were extremely friendly and made a point of having a quick chat with everyone during breakfast. All in all a very pleasent stay. If we ever have to you fly from Stansted then I would definately consider staying here over one of the chain hotels right on the airport's doorstep.

A return visit after two years, we didn't think it was possible but Neil & Tracy, the owners have improved what was already perfect. Neil remembered which was our favourite room and put us in there - a lovely large room with a table and chairs to relax in. Free wifi a bonus. The bathroom was better stocked than many 4 star hotels we have stayed in and the towels were large and fluffy.

The new breakfast room is bright and comfortable and we loved being able to breakfast outside in the sun. Plenty of local magazines and books provide tourist information. The sausages and bacon are top quality, local produce.

We are already looking forward to our next visit!!
