“Awful unclean hotel do not book”

Got to the hotel and booked in, found the receptionist rude. We were given key card to our room, opened the door to find someone already in there! Wasn't a good first start. Went back to the reception and they upgraded us to an executive room. The room was dirty there were hairs in the bath and it was dusty. No mattress protector on the bed. Carpet looked like it needed hoovering and there were dirty stained armchairs. Was not a good stay, was expensive and poor quality, wouldn't recommend to anyone!

Looked lovely on the website how wrong I was.
On arrival found that my room was located in an annex type building, thought things may be ok when I saw the signs for executive suites. Not sure how they worked that one out.
Room was basic, clean to a fashion. The bathroom was disgusting . I was too tired to go back to reception to complain, I really wanted a soak in the bath, but with chipped paint coming off, thought better of it. Shower instead, but without the blackened shower mat.
Dared to try room service and that was okay.
Breakfast...no plates, very little to choose from.
I was staying on business but I will not come back again, it was dismal.

We booked this hotel with a number of friends as we had a wedding at the nearby Gaynes Park. Despite contacting the hotel by email and phone requesting an earlier check in we arrived at 12 noon to find we had no room between us to get ready in. Another friend who booked that morning did however manage to get a room straight away!! The few staff that were around didn't have a clue and despite waiting for an hour no room was made available to us -how long does it take to clean 1 room!. We were left no option but to check in at 11pm on returning from the wedding only to be told that we couldn't get our luggage as that was in someone else's room and they wouldn't allow us in. So without luggage/toiletries we had to head off to the room. The bathroom was filthy - brown water leaking into bath, sink unclean and mould everywhere. The taps were on the wrong way which is in fact illegal
The general maintenance of this hotel is dreadful - the carpets were thick with dust and stained and the staff were incompetent at best.
We complained on check out and got 50% off but the experience was unacceptable. Would not recommend

Have stayed here many times as it is close to family. Since becoming a Best Western the rooms and cleanliness have much improved, however, it is always a bit like camping there as things go wrong! This time our first room had a terrible moldy smell in the 'superior' room we had booked and we had to move. (We suspect they knew about this but put us in there anyway). Then at the weekend there was no hot water when I went to shower to get ready for the lunchtime party we had flown 5000 miles to attend. Despite, saying that it would be fixed in 20 minutes, it took over 2 hours. Not being able to wait, I had to take a cold shower! Bottom line, this is a business man's hotel and maybe OK during the week but at weekends and holidays, be ready for anything!

Stayed one night and was like a trip in a time machine the place was so dated. The rooms were in separate blocks from the main hotel reception. Bit like a motel.
The restaurant seemed to be more of an Indian though did have a conventional menu
My Cod Chips and peas should have been easy to do
The cod was extremely small completely soaking in frying oil inside. The fish was a brown colour.
I used to get better school dinners
Won't be back

Only the price explains why people stay here. The shower did not work, restaurant staff slow, bedding covers only just fit the bed. WIll be looking elsewhere if I stay in the area again. When I checked out, the staff did not seem to know how to use the credit card machine. The location is great but the rooms and staff are lacking.

Not what I expected from a Best Western Hotel, you can normally no you have it right when you book a Best Western Hotel, but not this time.

The staff where great at check in, but then out side and round the back to a door with security locks, and 6 people by the door enjoying a cigarette. Not nice if you’re a none smoker.

In through the door and on to the room. The hall way was shabby and the room whilst clean, really needed a total revamp and mondernising.

There is much better out there for the money. Cant comment on the food as I didn’t eat there.
