Valley Farm Holiday Park - Park Resorts
Reviewed August 24, 2012

This place is a BIG nono. Kids fighting, swearing and more or less having intercourse where all small kids would play. Didn't see a security guard. Would have felt safer in Iraq . Caravans cramed in no privacy. Food rubbish. Local kids come in and fight with kids on holiday. Felt very uncomfortable and unsafe and would not let my kids out of my sight. This is definitely the worst park resorts site I have ever been to. And my kids didn't feel safe either.

A friendly family holiday park on the Eastern coastal side of England. This holiday park is ideally situated to visit local places in the surrounding area.
This park has a good entertainments programme aimed at all ages with plenty of sports and water activities.
The park has an excellat resturant with excellant and varied meals available.
Well worth a visit to experience the fun and laughter of this park.

Valley farm was an excellent holiday for anyone looking for a nice break with children. the outdoor swimming pool was spot on, really clean and well maintained, obviously the good weather helped, couldn't get the kids out of water in the afternoons as they loved it. Evening entertainment for the children was really well run and catered well even for the younger ones under the age of 5, as our 3 year old couldn't wait to get there at halfpast six. Had read reports that the shop was very expensive but found that not to be true, it was in line with what youd expect to pay for thigns in the local corner shop. There was a tesco store just out side Clacton and was only 5 or 6 mins away in the car for anyone requiring a bit more. The park was very clean and the grounds were well looked after, and the bins were emptied on a regular basis. Overall we really enjoyed our stay at Valley Farm and would definatley reccomend it to anyone.

We have not stayed in a caravan before as a family, and i haven't as an Adult, so it was with a certain amount of trepidation that we went to Valley farm.
The park was OK, the accommodation was OK. We booked a Gold Plus, despite it being August as the site said the 2 Bed version was a new model for 2012, so i was hoping it would be in decent nick. Given we booked nearly a year in advance you would have throught we would have got what we booked. We didnt, we got a 3 bed. This had pro's in that we could move both the beds in one of the rooms to put the travel cot into it, but cons in that it wasnt AS good as i would have hoped.
That said on the face of it, it looked nice. Closer inspection showed that the Freezer was soo frozen solid that the door didnt shut and non of the draws would open. The bathroom was revoltingly dirty, and the sofa's were on the way out. But if you are prepared to accept you wont be using the freezer, and you will have to clean the bathroom before anyone uses it then it was fine.
The pool area was a good size, with the option of "heated" outdoor pool (22deg), indoor pool and toddler pool, non of which were overly busy given it was the school holidays. The main irritation with this was the amount of 8ish yr olds and Grandmothers in the toddler pool!
The lack of personal care statement is down to me having an accident on site and spending 3 days in hospital before going straight home. Neither Park Resorts, or the site management themselves have so much as asked how I am.
I suspect we will not return, but may have another caravan holiday in the future

First impressions good and swimming pool great for children. Bronze caravan was good for just a weekend stay but have to say clean and had everything we needed. On the plus side the weather was fantastic so the site looked ok. It was apparent this site is mostly privately owned caravans. The downside was the public toilets in the clubhouse with no soap and dryer. Unfortunately there was excrement in the women's toilet and left there what a put off. We told the bar staff who said not much. Be prepared to be absolutely ripped off at the bar. 2 large glasses of wine cost 11.00 so not a cheap evening!!! Our kids loved the evening entertainment and had fun.

Speaking from years of exp at this park, and also getting to know the staff and sales people very well, I can safely confirm the following facts.
owners.....
1. Dont use their credit facilities, sales will wrap your deal up so sound, it makes the crap smell like roses, and you will no doubt pay for it financially big time.
2. Get everything in writing when suitable, if not, e.g visiting the reception, secretly record the conversation on a mobile phone, as believe me, they do lie, contradict, rip you off.
3. When it comes to taking issues higher i.e park manager, there is a trend of them leaving the firm, which with a quick call, you should be able to locate that person, guaranteed, at another park resorts site.
4. Dont let out your caravan, it'll be trashed.
5. In transit deal with sales people....take up any issues with reception, as the salesmen are pushed/pushing to fill their time selling, selling, selling, so once youve signed up, forget them unless needed, as they suddenly lose that friendly matey honest approach...you signed, cheers and bye.....
6. Nice as they can be, the Koso security staff in the arcade sell fags to kids in their little room.
7. Dont expect any mercy, you wont get it.
8. The rule of thumb is simple.....paying in cash?...youre ok......getting credit?...they will clean you out if you lose grip of payments, finance or site fees.
9. Buying gas?......when you get a new bottle delivered or buy a caravan, check the weight against an empty one to obtain what should be a full bottle of gas. 98% of the time, these are bottles stashed by maintenance and sales, from repossessed, pre owned and part x caravans and supplied for their pockets at your expense. If you dont clock it on delivery, and you report that the bottle didnt last long, no doubt maintenance will replace it and claim you had a leak on the hose and probably give you another dodgy bottle thats a bit fuller.

So, if youve so called inherited the caravan from a family member, or simply loaded, youre ok, if not tread very carefully.
By the way, the sites teamstars do a pucker job, and change annually, but i can honestly say, would you feel safe in the knowledge that your kids welfare is in the hands by most of the time, a coke snorting person you dont know?

Room Tip: Check toilet for urine stains, pubes, puke, check the fridge cooker and fire works ok, check gas saf...

Park R, General Manager at Valley Farm Holiday Park - Park Resorts, responded to this reviewResponded September 19, 2012

Hi Rob, and thanks so much for taking the time to post your review to TripAdvisor - we take all feedback seriously and so thanks for giving us the chance to make the park a better place. Regarding our finance packages, we price them competitively and our customers are free to take advantage of them or not, depending upon their personal preference. We follow the NCC guidelines for customer complaints to the letter, and if the HODs can't respond then the GMs do - on the rare occasion that the GM can't, the RD will respond instead. We do our best to keep caravans that are let out in excellent condition and if any damage is caused, we can either repair it in house or help our owners to make an insurance claim. We're currently writing our warranty guidelines, and we back up ongoing sales with support by the SM and the General Manager. Finally, we respect the law and the arcade would never sell cigarettes to children. Regarding your other comments, we are taking it very seriously and I'm personally passing it on to the relevant departments when appropriate in the hope that we'll be able to use it to improve the park for everyone. Thanks again for taking the time to post to TripAdvisor!

This place is fair to ok. The whole place has been set up with permanant residents in mind. Te pool is available free of charge for a very limited amount of time. The rest tey charge for activities which can get expensive over the days. Parking is scarce and a stint lack of disabled parking, I am tod a lt of spaces are occupied by staff. Local teens tend accumulate on te park late at night and the security cannot am that they leave as I found out it is a local thorough fare route!!!! Crazy golf course needed scrapped altogether and Starting again as it was so outdated. Food on e pak was barey acceptable but the entertainment was good for the kids. Not a place to go with teenagers a distinct lack of facilities. Football cages are closed at night for the noise as the park is in a residential area. If you book here use it as a base only.
