We visited Tropical wings with our 8 year old daughter and had a fab time. Reasonably priced and local it was a good choice to spend a few hours. There is a real family run atmosphere with most animals all being given individual names. The meerkats were great as was the enormous rabbit! The butterfly house with koi pond is always a lovely start to the visit especially as my daughter loves to feed the fish . Would thoroughly recommend

What a lovely place to be, its almost a family run zoo, and the staff are all so helpful and knowledgeable. We took both our kids (9 and 13) and we all had a great time, we watched the falconary shows, we chatted to the staff afterwards about their birds, we played in the play areas and met the wallabys. We had a lovely time and it was so nice that a family ticket wasn't too pricey and ice creams, soft drinks and coffees didn't break the bank, even the gift shop is reasonably priced. In fact I took leaflets away to hand out to our local pre-schools and primary schools. We will definitely be going again!!

This is a little known wonder to visit, esp on a Sunday afternoon, as you can walk round it in an hour, or take a leisurely stroll and spend 2-3 hours there

Very child friendly, with climbing frames etc and mini diggers and tractors to play with

It starts with an encounter session - various insects etc in tanks, hen moves on to the butterfly house, with free flying butterflies and a small pond full of koi carp. There are also large iguanas in there.

Outside they have birds of prey, small monkeys, wallabies, a petting zoo and my favourite Meerkats!! These are housed in a large bowl so you can view them live, not through glass.

There are several picnic areas as well as a small restaurant

Definitely worth a visit

Nice day out for young kids and families, not to expensive and plenty to see, come and go entry means walking over the road to the shaw farm pub means you can have a decent lunch rather than the usual attraction resturant fare, kids can get really close to the animals but also run round and let off steam. I wouldn t drive across the country for it but if you are localish give it a go. Could do with a few more butterflies though.
