Good range of dishes and all of good quality, Staff are also nice and friendly. Good healthy stuff as well as more traditional fare.

The place for a breakfast when you feel like a treat - I'm sure the lunches are great too but have never had lunch there so can't comment on them but the big breakfast well worth it.

I love acanteen and have been coming here for years. Tasty, cooked from scratch food, great coffee and I usually get service with a smile. The breakfasts are very good as are the jacket potatoes. Great for families.

Nice scrubbed tables, buzzy atmosphere and some very good salads, quiches etc. You can eat quite a good lunch here for around £15 a couple (main course plus drink).

We thought we would give this place a whirl- although we are not a massive fan of ordering food at the till as we tend to find no-one takes responsibility for the food/drinks order which is what happened on this occasion as our drinks did not arrive until we had started our meal and we had to remind the waiters twice. They were quite busy as it was Sunday brunch but feels frustrating particularly because the prices are more in line with a place that takes table orders. Although they probably save on staff cost I think this can be quite unrewarding for the waiters/staff as its very rare to give tips when you use this method of service. I thought the place lacked a little atmosphere too compared to other places in Chelmsford and could do with some brightening up (maybe with some coloured table cloths as the tables were quite sticky) or perhaps a lick of paint. Food was good however and the smoothies were nice which is very important thing to get right- I didn't see any menus other than what was on the walls which could be clearer, bit of a pain to have to get up to see all the different options but could be the appeal to some. Not sure if we would go again but if you don't mind about atmosphere then the quality of the food/drinks are worth a visit.
