I have just returned from a one night stay on the Ultimate Relax Package with three girlfriends and I couldn't be happier. The hotel and surroundings are stunning, the guys who great you and take your bags were most accommodating and knew about the history of the building when asked, the waiting staff in the dining room were exceptional and the two therapists I had treatments with in the Spa really knew their stuff. Rooms had beautiful views and were well equipped but it is a trek from the east wing to the dining room and bar and there are no lifts, this made the trip taxing for them member of our group who was heavily pregnant. As it was only 1 night we didn't bother to ask to be moved.
The food was amazing for the price, freshly cooked and hot. Thumbs up to all the kitchen staff. I thought this package was excellent value for money and we will return.
Only criticism would be that at the Country Club pool there is not enough lounge seating to accommodate the number of spa guests.

Stayed here on business for three nights with a number of colleagues. The staff are 100% attentive and very helpful. Jackets to be worn if using the restaurant caused eybrows to be raised. Not the fact that you have to wear a jacket but just for the short walk to your table where if required, the jacket can be taken off. In this day and age is this really necessary!!
The hotel is a fantastic building and the grounds outstanding. I had several walks in the grounds and found new places on each occasion. The hotel is set in what must be one of the nicest countrysides in England. The views from the bedroom window overlooking the lake are fantastic.
Did not have time to utilise the pool but it did look inviting
I would certainly recommend this hotel, especially if you wanted that little bit special for a weekend away with your partner.

Room Tip: Ensure you get a room overlooking the lake and remember to take a jacket with you!

Stayed here first in mid-march 2013 and had such a wonderful two day break with my sister-in-law and mother, that we returned again at the end of April. We stayed using their book one room, get a 2nd free. This did tie you into eating at their Andrieda restaurant, but this was not a problem for us. The service on both occasions was excellent, all the staff are friendly and polite.
we had a couple of little hiccups on our 2nd visit but these were dealt with swiftly and with good grace and in no way spoilt our enjoyment of the stay. This is a relaxing and peaceful place in beautiful surroundings. Well worth looking out for their special offers.

My company uses several hotels in the area and the Ashdown is by far the most consistantly good hotel. Bedrooms are spacious extremely comfortable and spotless. Bathrooms are also spotless. My only complaint and it is a small one, is that the water pressure from the showers is variable to say the least. The lounge area, especially in fornt of the open fires, is a great place to relax and wind down and the staff are always on hand without being pushy. All the staff are extremely friendly and very efficient. Food and Drink prices are on the high side but not as high as other hotels in the area. Restaurant food is very good, as is the lounge snacks. The breakfast is second to none I have experienced. Excellent grounds and leisure centre finish off a great place to stay.

Room Tip: All rooms at the rear have great views. Some higher rooms have noisy Central Heating pipes.

We have stayed before and just love this fabulous hotel. It's like going back in time but in a good way. Cocktails before dinner, dressing up, silver cutlery, white table cloths, huge comfy beds, beautiful grounds ..... The list is endless. The hotel is well maintained, classy but not in the least bit stuffy. The icing on the cake to me is the staff who are always the same - friendly, efficient and will do anything to help, they really make this a five star hotel in my view. The restaurant is in the most lovely room with a view of the estate that makes your day at breakfast time. Oh if only all hotels were like this one. If you've had a tough time or stress at work and need to relax, this is the place.

Fabulous views (especially across to the llama park), great base for walks & trips out. Breakfast buffet was superb. Bar too small for hotel. Our room did not have fridge or tea making facilities which was disappointing with 2 armchairs & great views, it's not the same when you have to ring for room service. Despite hotel aware it was our honeymoon, the bed was 2 singles together! Staff very attentive.

Six of us stayed at this hotel Friday and Saturday night to celebrate the 70th birthday of one of our party. Our overwhelming experience was one of being taken care of and any requests were met with complete faith in the outcome. The staff were exceptional. To name two, Mark (South African) and the lovely Laura. Every single member of staff had a welcoming attitude and went out of their way to be friendly. The food was extremely good and the rooms were clean, spacious with lovely views. We stayed in number 7 which overlooked the putting green. The hotel organised a birthday cake as a surprise for the 70 year old, which was much appreciated. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel and we will return, maybe for an 80th celebration!!

Room Tip: Room 7 had a small lounge area and a Jacuzzi in the bathroom.
