“How surprising”

This pub restaurant is very local to me, but has had since I've resided here at least 6 different tenants in as many years who have tried and failed to make a go of things,, I attempted to get a table as a walk in a week after it had opened but it was rammed and i was nicely turned away so I booked for a mid week and went yesterday, on this occasion not all the tables were taken nor was the bar area full the front of house staff on this night were very young and were not trained properly, we were taken to our table and then just left there in the end we had to approach the staff for menus, the menu was very clear and the the prices were reasonable, we again had to wait to have our order taken and we had to tell them we were ready, but oh what a joy when our food arrived the starters were excellent and very tasty, as indeed were the main courses one of Hake and the other of slow roasted pork belly, the desert selection was very good and as far as possible everything was sourced as locally, The food was excellent. We asked for the bill and again this arrived from our waitress not on a plate, just as it was a slip of paper and it was deposited on the table. The ambiance was good the food was of a high standard but the service let it down, but this could be easily fixed

“Outstanding Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 4, 2013

On hearing The Cherry Tree was under new management and had gone through extensive renovations, we were eager to see what improvements had been made.

Needless to say we were blown away! The transformation of the pub from a dingey, local drinking hole to a bright, airey and welcoming bistro is amazing and the staff are polite, smiley and welcoming. They instantly made us feel at home and their positive attitudes made our night very enjoyable.

We sat down to read over an mouthwatering menu choice and had the expert advise of the proprietor pick out a beautiful wine. Just as we thought our evening couldn't get any better, our food was served. The menu gave us a taste of what was to come but nothing prepared us for the delectable food, worthy of a michelin star, that was laid in front of us.

All in all, I could not find one fault with the new face of The Cherry Tree. Amazing fear considering they had only been open one week. I will most certainly return.

Looking for a pub/restaurant we stumbled upon this little gem! It was easy to park and the pub itself looked very presentable both inside and out. It was nice to see it was fairly busy but not overwhelming and we were shown to a table at the end of the pub which was slightly more secluded. Very nice decor and the staff were friendly and very prompt without being overbearing. The menu was great with a lovely range of dishes and it was refreshing to find that we were not forced to have a roast dinner just because it was Sunday although having seen the roast dinners served up to others I was mightily tempted! Our choice of bubble an squeak fish cakes with lemon mayonnaise was exquisite and I would thoroughly recommend this. Although this Inn presents as a village pub the food is most definately of restaurant standard. The owner came and introduced himself and said they had only been there for six weeks and that his sons were the chefs and family and friends were working there. This all added to the friendliness of the pub and made this a most enjoyable visit. Highly recommended!

“A Phoenix Has Risen!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 2, 2013

Previously this pub has had a whole series of failed attempts to make an impact. Finally with new owners taking over at end of August (a family of chefs/foodies) it looks like we have a very welcome addition to the village. The inside has been completely re-decorated and whilst there is a range of beers (including well kept Harveys) on tap - there is now more of an emphasis on the food. I believe the elder brother (and head chef) worked previously at Thackeray's. Certainly the food is way above traditional pub grub, and offers a creative, inventive menu which somehow manages to accommodate low prices. Having eaten there in its first week, we expect minor teething troubles.(They were trivial and indeed few) But it is clear this is going to attract keen attention for far afield as one does not often encounter this quality of food, service and ambience at this price!
And bearing in mind it has only just opened, it will only improve yet further. Excellent!

“Under new management”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 1, 2013 via mobile

This pub is now under new management so all previous reviews should be ignored. It has been renovated very stylishly and the garden is beautifully planted. We had lunch there today and were very impressed. The menu is imaginative, the service is very attentive and the food was delicious. We wish the Twaite family all the very best with their venture and hope both locals and visitors to the area will support the new incarnation of this pub.
