Inspired by reviews of other travellers we decided to book a last minute room at the Sedlescombe Golf Hotel a few miles from Hastings. Reception in the clubhouse was very friendly. The (family) room in the lodge was clean, big (separated part of the room with two single beds for the kids), nicely decorated and overlooked the tee-box of hole 1. Service and food in the clubhous were great (try the club sandwich!). And the bonus was the free round of golf that residents of the lodge can play one the par 3 course (trade up to the 18 hole par 72 course possible that includes free use of material (Callaway) for the four of us. A hidden spot that we will certainly retrun to!

My wife and I booked a two day James Andrews Golf School with an overnight stay. We booked through Golfbreaks.com. The hotel had a country house feel about it and our room was quite large with a very well appointed en suite. The location was quiet and only a short walk from the golf school. The golf tuition was quite intensive but very helpful and our coach Dan was very friendly and patient with us. The attached parkland golf course was difficult, in excellent condition but very fair for a mid handicap golfer. We were given free use of the excellent driving range and practice areas. There were numerous practice putting greens. Attached to the driving range was a well appointed pro-shop.
The club house and restaurant was quite small but had a friendly feel about it. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our only criticism was that the menu was limited, although there was a specials selection, and we had to wait a long time for our evening meal. Our breakfast was served quickly the following morning. Overall we thought it was a very good two days and value for money. We would recommend this venue and would go back.

Chose the location as we were going to Hastings the next day. We both play golf so was pleased that 9 holes on the par 3 course was included in the price. After checking in we were able to trade up to 18 holes on the main course. The course is fantastic and it was a bonus to be able to play it. We were delighted with the standard and size of the room. We ate dinner and breakfast in the restaurant and had a few drinks in the bar. All good and well priced. All the staff from front of house to the golf staff were extremely friendly and helpful, nothing was to much trouble. We will be back very soon.

Just come back from James Andrews Golf School at Sedlescombe Golf Course understanding why people are hooked on the game. Husband and I went as complete and utter beginners and have come away totally enthused and raring to join a club and get on the course asap. We had 5 half days as beginners, 2 as a group of 3 and 3 as a couple. Tuition was intense but excellent and ended with us going round 9 holes of the main course - strenuous and nerve racking but great fun. All staff were attentive, friendly and couldn't do enough for us. We stayed in Room 6 which was spacious, clean and comfortable. No separate shower which bothered us at first but after a days hard work on the range the bath was very welcome and the hand-held shower sufficed. Food was good value for money (we also ate the at the Queens Head in Sedlescombe village which was good value). Lodge is very quiet and relaxing and overall I would highly recommend to anyone - every if you're not interested in golf!!!
We will definitely be going back.

Stayed here back in March 2011 an intended to leave a review as we were well impressed. The hotel was really nice and incredible value - nice big room, golf course views and clean. It was a ten minutes drive to Hastings sea front, which was also beneficial.

The staff were great too - particularly the young gentleman who checked us in (I forget his name), but he was exceptionally polite and very helpful.

Breakfast was good and included in the pice, irrespective of what we wanted.

One small problem- this hotel is very easy to miss as it is on the main road and you pass it at 50 miles an hour. It is basically the golf club in Sedlescombe on the RHS as you drive towards Hastings. Also, no proper ale in the bar, which is a shame as there are some crackers from the South East. Had to resort to Guiness...

Overall, well recommended for a stay in Telford

Rooms are in nice building set apart from the main bar and restaurant so no noise issues. Very clean and quiet and contemporary. Stayed in room 1, a "Queen Room" and it might be worth paying that bit extra as our room was lovely. Only problems were white curtains and blinds so woke early it being sunny and june. But we are used to blackout blinds. It wasn't major deal though. Early rise - more golf. 18 hole course was challenging parkland with fast velvet greens and need for straight drives. Lovely par three nine hole course, my favourite. Driving range with bays and grass, putting greens, chipping and bunker area etc. Defining feature are the young friendly staff who are cheeful and polite all the time and accomodate any request. They didn't have my favourite drink on my first night but said they would get it for the second and they did. The whole place is clean, well kept and attractive. Good road links to it. Handy for all the hsitorical sights in the area. Food was freshly cooked and good value, sensible prices and the included breakfasts were great. The place manages to blend the best of golf club whilst staying friendly, informal and fun. Had a great time and will definitiely go again, represents excellent value for money. Would not matter if you did not play golf, still a nice place to stay.

Room Tip: Some rooms have bath, others shower, just ask

We booked a double, queen room on Late Rooms at a much lower price than the £140 advertised on the website. The position of the hotel is great, set back from the road and with a peaceful feel to it - it is a wonderful setting for playing golf. Although our room was relatively large with a very comfortable queen sized bed, there was only one leather armchair in the room, meaning that one of us had to either sit on the bed or the floor! Although we prefer to listen to the radio, and had taken our own as there wasn't one in the room, we did try the TV and found we could only get one analogue channel. Another inconvenience was not having a waste bin in the bathroom. On the plus side, it was easy to control the heating in the room, the accommodation was large and clean with complementary White Company toiletries. As mentioned in other reviews, the shower is hand held in the bath, but we found it adequate. Breakfast was included in the price, and our cooked English breakfast was substantial, with the waitress asking us if we would like more coffee. I am not sure if all the Queen bedrooms are like this, or whether the one we had (room 20) is considered more basic than the others, but it would not be good value at £140.
