“Very good value”
Reviewed June 27, 2011

Stayed here back in March 2011 an intended to leave a review as we were well impressed. The hotel was really nice and incredible value - nice big room, golf course views and clean. It was a ten minutes drive to Hastings sea front, which was also beneficial.

The staff were great too - particularly the young gentleman who checked us in (I forget his name), but he was exceptionally polite and very helpful.

Breakfast was good and included in the pice, irrespective of what we wanted.

One small problem- this hotel is very easy to miss as it is on the main road and you pass it at 50 miles an hour. It is basically the golf club in Sedlescombe on the RHS as you drive towards Hastings. Also, no proper ale in the bar, which is a shame as there are some crackers from the South East. Had to resort to Guiness...

Overall, well recommended for a stay in Telford

Rooms are in nice building set apart from the main bar and restaurant so no noise issues. Very clean and quiet and contemporary. Stayed in room 1, a "Queen Room" and it might be worth paying that bit extra as our room was lovely. Only problems were white curtains and blinds so woke early it being sunny and june. But we are used to blackout blinds. It wasn't major deal though. Early rise - more golf. 18 hole course was challenging parkland with fast velvet greens and need for straight drives. Lovely par three nine hole course, my favourite. Driving range with bays and grass, putting greens, chipping and bunker area etc. Defining feature are the young friendly staff who are cheeful and polite all the time and accomodate any request. They didn't have my favourite drink on my first night but said they would get it for the second and they did. The whole place is clean, well kept and attractive. Good road links to it. Handy for all the hsitorical sights in the area. Food was freshly cooked and good value, sensible prices and the included breakfasts were great. The place manages to blend the best of golf club whilst staying friendly, informal and fun. Had a great time and will definitiely go again, represents excellent value for money. Would not matter if you did not play golf, still a nice place to stay.

We booked a double, queen room on Late Rooms at a much lower price than the £140 advertised on the website. The position of the hotel is great, set back from the road and with a peaceful feel to it - it is a wonderful setting for playing golf. Although our room was relatively large with a very comfortable queen sized bed, there was only one leather armchair in the room, meaning that one of us had to either sit on the bed or the floor! Although we prefer to listen to the radio, and had taken our own as there wasn't one in the room, we did try the TV and found we could only get one analogue channel. Another inconvenience was not having a waste bin in the bathroom. On the plus side, it was easy to control the heating in the room, the accommodation was large and clean with complementary White Company toiletries. As mentioned in other reviews, the shower is hand held in the bath, but we found it adequate. Breakfast was included in the price, and our cooked English breakfast was substantial, with the waitress asking us if we would like more coffee. I am not sure if all the Queen bedrooms are like this, or whether the one we had (room 20) is considered more basic than the others, but it would not be good value at £140.

I stayed for a few days whilst taking lessons at the on site Golf school. My room, although not fancy, was spacious and clean with the necessary minimum of amenities. The hotel is not big with only ~20 rooms and is exceedingly quiet. I slept like a log. Meals were taken in the golf club and are of good quality and excellent value. The staff are exceedingly friendly. My only gripe would be having to take a shower whilst sat in the bath rather than whilst stood up.

Stayed for just one night not to play golf just as part of a weekend end away, booked last minute and what a find. The hotel is seperate from the clubhouse (where you check in and eat) so it is really quite. Our room was modern and clean with a huge bathroom. Breakfast was cooked to order in the clubhouse and was good quality.Staff were friendly albeit very busy, the guy behind the bar seem have many hats!
Overall a very good place to stay.

We booked here for one night on a Sunday night for a short break away from our busy London lives. We stayed in Room 1 which looks like it had been recently refurbished. It was very well done, everything in the room was nice and new with a heater up on the ceiling (perfect in December).
The rooms were a good distance from the restaurant (and the noise) so it was nice and quiet.
We enjoyed a game of chess in the clubrooms while waiting for the restaurant to open, then enjoyed a nice dinner - the food was really good as well, classic pub dishes.
It was very nice and peaceful and the bed was very comfortable.

Any gripes if any were:
- very hard to find - Google maps did not have the correct location and it was not clearly sign posted outside. We drive past it about 5 times before we rang up and asked where it was.
- not many channels on TV - but who really cares about that?
- shower head had nowhere to hang up. The bath had a shower head to use but there was nowhere to hang it up, and no shower curtain. Best advised to have a bath.

Overall this place was awesome and a great price (including breakfast).

My partner and i arrived for the 3 half day golfing lessons in Sept 2008. My partner was fairly new to golf as she only been having lessons recently and i have played on and off socially over the years. We checked into our room which was spacious and adequate for what we wanted.
We were paired with another couple on the intermediate course,(we chose the intermediate course because we thought the beginners course might be a bit to basic). Our instructor Dan introduced himself and we went straight onto the driving range where he reviewed our golf swings, we all then went into the video room and were videoed on our swings, then had to watch it back, you soon see our much work you have to do to change your bad habits but Dan always encouraged. We worked as a group and also idividually with Dan over the next 3 days. The only downside was that the couple we were paired with were quite difficult and were a bit too serious about it all and took more of Dans time which was unfair on us, in some ways it was our own fault for not speaking up for ourselves. In the evenings we ate in the restaurant and met some other couples who we got on really well with, shame we were not paired with them. Although tiring we really enjoyed our time here and have booked to go back in March 2009
