“Fantastic wedding reception with terrific service.”
Reviewed August 3, 2013 via mobile

When looking for a venue to host a wedding lunch we chose The Brickwall as they were so accommodating when we turned up on the spur of the moment to ask about info menus etc. Aldo the manager offered us coffee and took us through options, no hidden extras at all and wanted to work to our budget. From then on they were simply fantastic and everything on the day was brilliant, staff so friendly, the food was simply delicious, with nut free options no problem for one of our friends, everyone had a wonderful time so thank you to the Brickwall for making our day so happy and enjoyable. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. The food is great, well prepared and presented. Both Lunch and Evening meal have two or three courses we would have liked to have the option of just having one course.

Our room was in the old part of the hotel and we could hear what was going on in other rooms. There was a lot of door slamming going on, perhaps adjusting the old doors and having automatic closers would solve this problem.

There are nice lounge and seating areas inside and outside to relax in. You can even sit by the outside pool on fine days.

Sedlescombe is a very nice country village where people say hello to you as you walk by. There is a footpath each side of the Main Street so walking up and down you can get some exercise and look at some fine interesting buildings.

Room Tip: If you want a shower ensure you get a a room with full shower facilities. Ours was a bath with just...

Firstly I turned up at 9pm unannounced after seeing a sign for this hotel on the way to Hastings. The Owner made me feel straight away that this was a friendly place and checked me in and arranged for a snack before bed. I was given the last room available at the rear of the Hotel which was clean and tidy. As per previous reviews there is a little noise from the adjacent rooms but this did not bother me too much. The shower was excellent and there were all of the usual tea and coffee making facilities. The bed was comfortable enough. I then booked in again the following week and was given a room over the Bar in the older part of the Hotel with a King Size bed which was fab. The food in the Restaurant was nothing short of excellent and I was very surprised to see the previous poor food review which prompted me to write this. The breakfast was superb and any request in this place was always met with swift friendly response. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and felt the family values that the owners practice carry through to the business.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms above the reception/bar

The hotel is in a quiet village, has ample parking, friendly and helpful staff, is very clean and serves excellent meals, very good value when taken as a half-board package. Only slight downsides were old fashioned bedding and furnishings and a very weak shower (but there was a bath). Many attractions are within easy reach of the hotel.

A most welcoming hotel after a long drive from home, 5 hours. I was going to visit Sissinghurst Garden with some friends and was recommended this hotel in Seddlecombe. Very nice friendly staff, they could not do enough for us. Lovely view from my bedroom window over the garden. I would like to enjoy a breakfast like this every morning!! We were going to celebrate a birthday and we spend a very pleasant evening in the diningroom enjoying a superb meal and excellent service .

Located in a wonderful countryside location. Very good breakfast, prepared with care by friendly staff. Clean and well equipped rooms. Free wifi for all guests. Convenient and safe private parking. Good restaurant, as well as a good pub in front of the hotel. Nice environment for walks on public foothpaths. Recommended for a stay in East Sussex. Only drawback is that the hotel building is quite old and interior decoration is quite dated, compared to modern continental European standards, but we noticed that is generally the case in the whole region.
