We stayed at this site over the first bank holiday in May. Despite the previous reviews I found the staff helpful and friendly and everything was kept clean and tidy. Great location right next to the beach, and within easy walking distance of both pevensey and cooden. Would stay here again if we return to this area.

I have read all the reviews below and totally agree with them. We went to this site in 2006 and it had Grumpy staff then and we vowed that we would not return, as it was not child friendly (No Kite Flying, No Ball Games and definately NO Smiling), but we returned this weekend, as we were meeting up with friends on site to spend a night together. When we turned up at 10.30 Saturday morning, we were immediatley told that we could not go onto our pitch until 12.00, even though for the first weekend in October, it was practically empty and our friends were already on site from the night before. They relented, saying that in High Season, we needed to be mindful of this rule and allowed us on, but only after we waited for a man on a bicycle to show us our pitch - right next to our friends!!!!

The following day when we were leaving, the shower block was closed for cleaning and so we were unable to use the toilet before we started on out journey at 12.00 - how daft as this is when you have to vacate the site by 12.00 and you are unable to use the facilities before you leave.

The Camping and Caravanning Club need to wake up to the restrictions on this site and put in some people who want to run a thriving happy site and not the miserable bleek field you actually end up with. I would add, that all those campers we met on site, were very friendly and lovely people, so the miserable wardens did not dappen peoples enjoyment.

We stayed there on 16th September and have to say it was a big mistake and we would never recommend it to anyone.

We needed a large pitch for my van, husband's tent and car and ideally would have liked two close together or adjacent which we asked for. However, everything was too much trouble and it was a case of 'computer says no' despite there being many spaces available including 5 unused adjacent pitches just across a pathway. It was 7.40pm and there were no additional pitches booked and nobody due to arrive after us.

We were escorted to a horrible patch facing onto a hedge with barely sufficient space for the tent's guy ropes and to the other side was the loo block. Although larger pitches were available, there was no flexibility - we were to pitch there and not straddle the marker, which we didn't, but it was a squeeze to get two vehicles on. Through the evening, night and morning it was a thoroughfare as one would expect. To all sides we were hemmed in and forced to listen to the 5 different conversations, radios and TVs of our 5 groups of neighbours as we were thoroughly surrounded. We accept that this happens at busy periods (although the warden insisted this was a 'quiet' night) and is par for the course on some campsites. We could see everything was too much trouble for the warden so we meekly took up our spot and bedded down for the night with earplugs.

However, there was no excuse for the following morning when two wardens, ie the previous nights and now a new one, were heard slagging us off loudly to our neighbours. Another, approached Jonathan and was quite rude to him too. He is very easy going and never loses his temper - but he came very close. At this point we left. It was a horrible place with a horrible atmosphere and, although there was plenty of space, vans seems to be crammed together in groups, some of which seemed rather closer than the rulebook's 6m requirement, while there were lots of larger vacant spaces in other areas. I was also ticked off for having my micro campervan facing away from the loo block wall rather than directly overlooking it, as instructed.

I would never recommend this site to anyone. Instead we moved to Cobbs Hill Farm at Bexhill which, apart from being considerably cheaper, we met with a most friendly owner, the invitation to pitch anywhere and our fellow campers were equally friendly too. On talking to the owner, it seems we were not the only ones with a negative experience of this site, and she also guessed where we'd arrived from.

Generally the C&CC sites are usually good, but I have to say that this was the worst I've ever stayed on due to the attitude of the wardens and there was no excuse for this in my opinion.

Room Tip: If you catch the wardens in a good mood, ask if you can choose your own pitch. They were inflexible...

Hoardes of chIldren hanging around the park area, swearing and being obnoxious. Stink of manure from dog walk area, dribble of hot water. Not recommended to anybody wanting a peaceful stay. Camp staff very unhelpful.

We arrived 1 and a half hours early, (you don't know how the traffic will be) but they won't let you checkin before 12! We walked around the site there was lots of empty pitches, but no we had to wait till dead on 12! We found the check in staff not very friendly at all, now this is the camping and caravan club " the friendly site" NOT! The showers are awful considering they have people that stay in tents and need to use them (we have a caravan) so don't, so I didn't bother, the hard standing pitches looked awful too glad we never had one of those. The beach is just across the road so good location, we got a train into Eastbourne to watch the air show, had to pay 20p to use the loo! The toilet had no loo paper and the door had glass in it so people could see you on the loo!! Anyway back to the site we find the caravan Club so much better and will not rush to go to caravan and camping club site again.

If you expect pools, swings, table tennis and sauna, don't go here. For a friendly staff, the pebble peach at a stone's throw, cleanliness and space, do come here. The direct surroundings of this camping are not very attractive (except for the beach of course, it's so close you can here the surf from your tent). Friendely staff, clean amenities.
Very conveniently located, close to Eastbourne, Hasting, Rye etc.

A nice site that is clean and well looked after. It is by the sea although you cannot actually see the sea from the site due to the bult up flood defences but just cross the road and up the slope and you have wonderful sea views.

There is a small shop on site that sells the basics and essentials. Onsite facilities such as toilets and showers were clean and functional and we always had hot water.

There is a railway station less than half a mile away down a country road which was really handy for getting to nearby towns, handy for picking up supplies if you don't have or want to drive.

At night it was nice and quiet on site and at times you could hear the sound of the waves crashing on the beach - the perfect way to get off to sleep after a days exploring the area!

We found the staff to be friendly and helpful and willing to accommodate any requests such as a later departure on our last day.

We would definately return here again.
