“excellent hotel”
Reviewed August 22, 2013

Stayed at the Brambletye hotel, which had been booked by our son for us, and we were delighted with his choice. The room was spacious and very clean, we had dinner both nights at the hotel, and the food was excellent. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful, reception even printed off a route map for us for the remainder of our trip, and also gave us names of other local accomodation, as we decided to stay on an extra night and unfortunately the Brambletye was fully booked. Will certainly revist.

Booked a last minute room at the Brambletye for an extremely good rate - although upon arrival our room was not quite ready the staff quickly offered us a complimentary drink in the bar while we waited. The room excelled all expectation - clean, comfortable and well equipped. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and the staff especially the young lady who served us could definitely teach a lot of other restaurants/hotels about service. She went above and beyond at all times. Breakfast was again wonderful with a vast choice and attentive service. A very big thank you to all the staff. Will most certainly stay again.

Myself and my fiancé were invited to the wedding of an old school friend in East Grinstead in May 2013. All of the hotels in East Grinstead itself were already booked and the nearest ones where a few miles down the road in Forest Row. We read a few reviews and the Brambletye Hotel had the best ones, so we went ahead and booked.
We decided to go with the Deluxe Double Room as the upgrade price was very reasonable and breakfast was included.
We arrived into East Grinstead by train from Hull and found a taxi company straight away who took us to Forest Row, where the hotel is situated. The journey cost less then £5 which were very happy with so stuck with the same company for the whole weekend.
On arrival at the hotel we were greeted by a very friendly receptionist who sorted us very quickly and efficiently.
We were a little early for check in so had a wonder around the town, which we found to be really nice with some gorgeous shops, bars and restaurants.
When we arrived back the room was ready so we made our way upstairs to the second floor where our room was, its quite a hotel with only twenty or so rooms.
On entering we were very happy! The room was spacious and spotless. There was a lovely large bathroom, comfortable bed, tv, fridge, tea and coffee facilities, iron, hairdryer, a seating area and a beautiful bay window looking out onto the street.
We had a drink in the bar, which was also very nice and the prices were reasonable. Food was available but we tried the historic pub/hotel across the road (which was disappointing).
In the morning the breakfast was served in the restaurant area of the bar. There were continental choices plus the option of a cooked breakfast, which was cooked to order and was very tasty.
After two very comfortable nights, I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Go for the upgrade!

My boyfriend and I decided to have an impromptu night away as we had planned to go visit Hever Castle and thought it would be nice to stay the night before our day out. We looked for hotels nearby and came across this one which seemed to be the best value for money. We decided to pay £10 extra and get the deluxe room which was definitely well worth it. The room came with a full English breakfast, complimentary toiletries, tea, coffee, water etc. The bedroom was nicely decorated, spacious, clean and comfortable. The ensuite bathroom was modern, clean and came with more than enough towels. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant and we both had great meals. All the staff members were friendly and very helpful, we asked if our breakfast could be sent to us by room service the next morning and this was handled greatly and at no extra cost either. Overall we were extremely happy and we wished that we could have stayed longer. We will definitely visit again and recommend this hotel to others.

Booked two rooms in this hotel for a trip to the races. The hotel staff were very accommodating and pleasant. We had two rooms in what appeared to be the newer part of the building. The corridor to the rooms was very warm and it was noted that the bathroom windows would have vented onto this corridor if they opened, and allowing other guests to hear the flushing of toilets etc! The rooms were comfortable, but the décor was tired and very "busy". We were unable to make the TV work and the clock radio was good for music only. I did use the hairdryer but it began to smell of burning and could someone please tell me why they never make the flex long enough to see into the mirror. Tea and coffee making facilities were available, however the hot chocolate sachet had been damaged spilling contents into the tray which had clearly not been checked for some time. There was considerable dust on the tea tray drawer. The bath would have benefitted from a good scrub as there was a very visible lime scale line. This was not just in our room, our travelling companions bath suffering the same fate. Our companions fridge would have benefitted from a defrost and a through clean. The bedding appeared crisp and clean and the bed was comfortable, but felt that the duvet was too thick for the recent weather. The towels were thick and fluffy.
Breakfast was plentiful, but please if you must microwave the scrambled eggs please give them a mix halfway through. They appeared dried and rubbery.
Whilst I appreciate these are small niggles and we would not wish to detract from the helpfulness of the staff, I feel that it was an average stay, which could have been better if a little more attention is paid to the small details.

Thank you for your review, please accept my apologies that we did not reach a standard to which you would have liked. Housekeeping is something we should get right all the time every time, since seeing your review I have asked the hotel manager to remind the housekeeping team of the small aspects of preparing a room that can make or break a stay.
Originally the bathroom windows opened onto an open veranda prior to the passage being enclosed. The windows are not meant to be opened but to provide an amount of natural light. I have asked maintenance to check these are all sealed. The in room facilities such as TVs, radios and hair dyers are checked each week by maintenance or on the reporting of an issue, so any aspects where these need attention should be picked up.
The points regarding housekeeping are not of our usual standard and as mentioned we will ensure housekeeping are reminded of the need to excel.
Regarding the scrambled eggs, these should not be microwaved at any time so I will be investigating personally and should this be the case I will deal with the culprit.
I appreciate you taking the time to review us and I hope you will feel able to revisit in the future.

It is not often that the comment "Couldn't be more helpful!" is 100% true but in this case it is! A failed alternator with the resultant flat battery was resolved by organising a local family garage and one of the staff taking the battery out of his car to replace the flat battery so the car could get to the garage! It was still a great place to stay, regardless of the "Above and beyond the call of duty" aspect; the room was comfortable, the location excellent the food good and of course the staff all have gold stars!

Very comfortable room, good food at good prices, very friendly staff. Nice village and good location to spend a few nights. We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere at this hotel. Easy to find, ample off road parking.

Room Tip: Rooms at front do have some traffic noise
