Aged 64 and 74 The lunch we had at this pub was quite simply the worst we have ever had. A Christmas treat from our son after having two nice meals here we were served today with what I can only presume were yesterday's vegetables reheated, a sloshy pile of grey limp mange tout carrots and unrecognisable courgettes bunged together on a plate of dry overcooked bass and duck. The complaint was dealt with politely but this was a wretched and embarrassing experience.

We've eaten here a couple of times in the past, this is the first time since it changed hands last year. It was a hot day and we sat in the new beer garden on a new bench with umbella, my wife asked me to get her a Pimms we had to wait a few minutes for the landlord to make it and bring it to the table, it was worth the wait it was a proper Pimms and lemonade the best in any pub around here ( thats if the bar staff know what your asking for).
My wifes food was excellent and she enjoyed it I had Duck which came a little over done , but the baby vegatables were prepared and cooked well and the dauphinoise potatoes were different but delicious. The landlord said his chef was from Portugal I hope he stays. We'll be back.

The Rose and Crown has all you could wish for. Be sure to watch your head as you enter through the low doorway into this attractive old hostelry which is packed with atmosphere. The Rose and Crown has served generations of Burwash locals for centuries and now offers a good selection of beers, an extensive and sensibly priced wine list, a comprehensive assortment of starters, mains and desserts.
Look out for the popular themed evenings - the Tapas extravaganza certainly lived up to its billing with a wide assortment of Iberian dishes served by gaily dressed senoritas!
We enjoyed three visits in as many days and found the service speedy and efficient, the food excellent, and the whole experience most enjoyable.
All you could wish for!

We stayed her for Bed and Breakfast. It's a very atmospheric pub, and the staff were warm and welcoming. The rooms are simple but comfortable, with a TV, kettle, shower etc - and everything worked perfectly. We left very early but the landlord and his wife were up to check we had everything we needed for breakfast.

We have eaten here before. Food is very good with a good selection of coursesbut service was very slow, 2 hours for a 2 course meal with a significant delay in plates of the same course arriving on the table. Apparently our group of 11 was the only party to have booked for Easter Saturday and restaurant was busy but even so we felt service too slow.
