Stayed 2 nights in May. Staff friendly and helpful. Room clean and nice if a little old fashioned and quirky. Breakfast superb - it was really nice to have a fully served breakfast unlike so many hotels these days. Location is good, just around corner from the seafront. Shame there was no car park and parking was difficult on the streets - but it was a bank holiday weekend.

Thank you for taking the time to comment. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay and enjoyed our lovely breakfast. Sorry we don't have a car park, parking is usually pretty good especially on the seafront but as you say it was a Bank Holiday Weekend. Hope to see you again soon.

Visited this nice family run hotel and had a very nice three course lunch. Food was lovely. Had the pate, fish, cheese and biscuits. Good red wine. Staff were friendly and efficient. Have been here several times before and always very good. Thank you. Janet x

I recently stayed one night at this pleasant hotel situated in a quiet side road just a short distance from the seafront - The hotel is described as being a family run establishment which has been in the Sims family for three generations - I was immediately struck by the pleasant and helpful nature of the staff in this period built hotel of the 1880s - The antique furnishings and reproduction furniture fit in well with the modernisation given to the hotel, giving it a nice feeling of ambience and comfort - The rooms are very clean and airy, the beds comfortable and the shower a delight to use ! - A very hearty breakfast was offered in the morning, I had traditional English and they even offered you a large or small breakfast subject to your hunger needs ! At a cost of £53.00 for one night's stay I found this to be extremely good value and have no hesitation to recommend this to fellow Tripadvisor travellers !

Room Tip: seems to be a well soundproofed hotel quiet throughout the building !

Over the years I have stayed at the Northern Hotel many times, usually for one or two nights. It is a very comfortable hotel in a great location convenient for the train station , sea and shops. It tends to cater for an older clientelle - indeed I think some guests are almost semi-resident with their own tables and even food in the dining room. Staff are very helpful and are obviously used to dealing with their elderly guests. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Of particular note are the breakfasts - plenty of choice , very well cooked and presented , and certainly generous in their portions. The reception area has a very extensive selection of tourist information available.
Some people may find the presence of so many older guests off-putting - its certainly not a lively hotel - but for a quiet comfortable stay in a reasonable value hotel its hard to beat.

Thank you for your continued support and also for writing your review. Our breakfasts seem to be quite a hit with everyone which is great news.

We have a variety of guests of all ages and while Bexhill is popular with the more senior generation we do hope all ages will appreciate the calm and tranquillity that both our hotel and Bexhill offer in this hurried world.

Looking forward to welcoming you again.

I have been here for 2 weeks I stay in hotels a lot. The northern is a traditional seaside hotel I will firstly say it is a little tired however very clean and really comfortable beds with excellent wifi coverage and speeds the best thing for me tho being a nearly 50 yr old builder is breakfast .
I love all the old people and how the staff treat them like family you typically get older couples here the Gentleman invariably wearing a shirt and tie escorting their beloved wives in thier twin sets to breakfast chairs are pulled out and pleasant comments past good day, morning etc . The staff know all the guests and seem to know what they had done each day and what there doing . I have overheard the staff saying they would escort them to different places and organise their days its lovely to sit back and watch puts a tremendous smile on my face and a tear in my eye thinking how I would have liked to have grandparents like the guests at the northern , lunch and dinner are no different still the staff are attentive and charming
Well done and may it continue absolutely love the quirky lift and exquisite biscuits left daily in my room which again is quirky with a downstairs en suite great size well equipped not a boutique but traditional chic
Love it marvellous breakfast 8-10 its worth spending an extra 1/2 hour to people watch kippers are well presented and the scrambled egg to die for
I can honestly say if I had grandparents or parents I would recommend this hotel and I will return with my wife as I want her to see hospitality and warmth is still about and here in an abundance !!!!

We only stayed overnight but the room was a reasonable size, clean and comfortable. Breakfast on the Sunday morning was a feast - apart from the offer of fruit, cereals, juices and toast, the main courses were varied and the full English comes in two sizes. We opted for the small and thank goodness we did! Heaven knows what the large would have been (and we both have large appetities). Will definitely be staying again when we visit our friends in Bexhill.

Room Tip: Rooms 1 and 2 are only accessible down a small flight of stairs, even after using the lift. Anyone...

Nice hotel with friendly staff. Good breakfast. Very much a seaside independent hotel which I rather like. Have stayed a few times. It's quirky and designed for the older resident which has the by-product of meaning the chairs are comfy. Love the idea of sheets rather than duvets - reminds me of childhood staying at Grandma's. have stayed for a few years now and they are obviously upgrading bits each year.
