We decided to visit the Gallery again today. Being local, each time we try the cafe we hope for better. Same poor service and too many young staff that don't seem particularly interested in customer satistaction and no-one obviously in charge. Lots of tables needed clearing and litter on the floor. This spoilt the wonderful view and great buliding. The staff were mostly young men. One lad lumped all 3 pieces of cake on one plate and when I asked if he would put them on separate plates they looked at us bemused and replied plates undernneath and wouldn't fit on tray otherwise! Why not give us 2 trays (alas no). I suggested he used the tongs but he looked reluctant so I picked up the pieces which then went over the counter. They just giggled and stared. I asked for forks which he said were down the end. No apolgy or customer service. I then had to clear the table myself. There was litter over the floor by our table and no one sweeping or wiping tables. Only one chap and 2 girls apperaed to be interested in tackling the work in hand. He preceded to walk through the litter twice in front of the counter which another waitress had dropped before picking it up! Having worked in a cafe myself I was utterly shocked! The coffee and cake were actually good. The sign said the cafe closed at 16.30 but that wasn't the case as when someone asked what time they closed they nonchelantly said oh 17.30 ish. Overpriced and nothing like the wonderful Jerwood Gallery cafe in Hastings. What a waste in this fine buliding!

We are local and visit the DWP only occasionally in the faint hope that things might improve...... Alas they never seem to and it feels such a waste of what could be a superb restaurant in a magnificent setting. At best it is only ever mediocre

We had the soup of the day, a sandwich, chips, a pastry, and coffee, and it was all excellent, most especially the chips! Portions were large, and excellent value for the prices paid. Well worth a visit for lunch, when in Bexhill.

Lovely place to go - stunning views!! Food quite expensive, tried two vegetarian options - Goat's Cheeses Patties, quite nice but tiny portion of tiny patties 3 or 4 at most! Sweet Potato Tangine with Spicy Rice - tasteless and rice all stuck together not spicy but very lumpy!
Each time I've had white wine it's not cold enoiugh - Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon both had a lack of flavour - expensive and a large wasn't very large!
What a shame - a place for huge potential!

Food is average, prices are above average, sea views are stunning - that is the reason for coming, to admire the view from your table (just don't expect great food or good value!).
