From the Einaudi Fans!
The Old Manse is outstanding ! Look no further for a blissful retreat, as this haven will not be
bettered.Everything from the superb quality, comfort , peace and freindliness, to the scrumptious
breakfasts, with Sussex sausages, homemade Granola, and homemade marmalade, is top notch.
The homemade cake offered to us every evening was a real looked forwaed to treat , when we arrived back tired, but happy.
This house is truly something special, and so are the owners, Debbie and Eric.
This is the place that we will return to when we go back to Bexhill.

Room Tip: We recommend the Egerton suite, with it`s luxury bathroom.

I have just returned from my second visit to The Old Manse and can honestly say it was as perfect as the first. IMy partner and I absolutely adore everything about this superb B+B. When we originally Googled 'Luxury Accomodation on the South Coast' the web site for this beautiful house stood head and shoulders above the rest. You could tell instantly that everything oozed quality, style, comfort and thoughtfulness. So much so that we chose our holiday destination because of this glorious guest house, rather than choosing the destination first!

This time we stayed in the Egerton Suite and it was stunning. The huge Super King-size bed, was so comfortable that it was a joy to fall into after a tiring day exploring the area. The bathroom was enormous and scrupulously clean - everything just sparkled. The lovely claw-foot bath took centre stage, flanked by two wash basins and a large shower cubicle. I loved stepping from the shower, after using the lovely toiletries and wrapping myself indulgently in the large, fluffy towels.

The breakfasts served each morning in the bright, elegant dining room, really do keep you going all day. There is a choice of yoghrt, beautifully prepared fresh fruits, croissants or Danish pastries and cereals. Debbie makes her own Granola and it is so tasty, I had to have some each day! There are fruit juices too. The Sussex breakfast includes mainly local produce and is sometimes accompanied by potatoes, cooked in various ways. There is also the chance to order pancakes or scrambled eggs with salmon if you would like too. The breakfasts were always immaculately presented and the cooked breakfast was always served on piping hot plates. All this, rounded off with toast, honey homemade jams and marmalades. A feast indeed!

Both Debbie and Eric are superb cooks, as was perfectly displayed when we ate a three course meal one evening at The Old Manse. These evening meals, including I think, a two course meal, can be arranged whilst staying at the B+B. There were several choices to choose from and each and every one was beautifully presented and cooked, easily matching and, in some cases, surpassing dining out in a top end restaurant. The table was perfectly arranged, with fresh flowers and whiter than white tablecloth and napkins. Wonderful! Thankyou so much, Debbie and Eric.

There is so much to applaud about this amazing guest house. It is the absolute ultimate in luxury, comfort and hospitality. As soon as you step through the door, you feel like a friend as opposed to a guest. Once settled in, Debbie welcomes you with a drink and, the first of many, slices of exquisite homemade cake. We were lucky with the weather so we managed to enjoy ours on the sunny terrace, overlooking the immaculate front garden. Every afternoon there is another welcome slice of cake to help revive you on your return from a 'busy' day lounging on the beach, etc. On your return from an evening out you are greeted by the warm glow of the bedroom lamps and fresh milk, if required, in your room. Such little thoughtful touches make The Old Manse the perfect place for relaxation and you leave feeling thoroughly pampered and spoilt. The main assets of The Old Manse though have to be Debbie, Eric and Oliver. They are all such warm, friendly people, who immediately put you at ease. They really are the perfect hosts.

So, if you are looking for somewhere that embodies the term 'Total Perfection' then, seriously, look no further. It has everything to make your stay one you will never forget, for all the right reasons. Even the location is perfect! Just a short walk to the beautiful clean beach and an even shorter walk to the little railway station, where you can catch the train into London ( £20 for a day return, including underground and bus fares), Eastbourne or Brighton, etc.

All in all, the best B+B you can possibly hope to find on the South Coast. Forget all the big hotels, this can easily match them on the luxury front but it also leaves them standing on so many more. 10 Star Gold Award, that's what it should be! Thankyou Debbie, Eric and Oliver for making our holiday so very special, once again.

Room Tip: Both rooms are absolutely perfect. The Egerton Suite is the larger of the two but The Polegrove is a...

This was our second visit to the Old Manse and as before it was superb. Debbie and Eric welcomed us back like old friends and with such warmth it's like being part of the family.

I can't think of the words to praise this fantastic B&B other than it should be the first to have six stars !

At the Old Manse, everything breathes high quality, luxury and tradition. In a wonderful house with a nice garden, Debbie and Eric have welcomed us very kindly despite our quite late arrival.

Our Egerton Suite was a very nice luxury and large room, with an excellent king bed, a sofa, a desk, a large flat TV, charming furniture, good wifi connection … The very large bathroom offered an amazing clawfoot bathtub, a large modern walk-in shower, two washbasins … And the towels were extremely soft and comfortable.

We enjoyed very much our breakfasts. Eric and Debbie prepared a full Sussex breakfast (eggs, bacon, sausages, tomatoes, beans, mushrooms … and sometimes even potatoes) with squeezed orange juice, toasts, home made jam, fresh fruit salad … With the pleasure to hear classical music.

For tea time, we tasted the Debbie’s secret: the Victoria Sandwich cake. So delightful!

From the Old Manse, we can reach very easily the sea (by foot), Hastings, Brighton, the Kent and Sussex counties, Beachy Heads … and so many fine places to see around.

Room Tip: The Egerton Suite is very large with a wonderful bathroom.

Last year in August, I visited with my daughters the south of England and we stayed in three different B&B's, but this one was definitely by far the best. The Egerton Suite is a wonderful cozy and also very big room with all luxury you can imagine. But the bathroom is really spectacular, since it is soooo big and has this great shower and even a very nice tub.
Besides all that luxury, Debbie and Eric really make you feel at home. They have so many delightful different recipes for breakfast and afternoon cakes that you feel like in heaven all the time.
Thus I returned this May with my husband and stayed for 2 full weeks only in this B&B, because there cannot be a better place in England than this. And we will return for sure. Actually, we just returned home in Germany, but I already think about planning our next trip to Debbie and Eric. Although there are places in the world with better weather, but that is nothing compared to a stay here.

Room Tip: I love the Egerton suite.

Staying at the The Old manse was an extraordinary experience for us. It's a lovely place where all your dreams come true. Debbie and Eric give you are warm welcome and take care of everything you need. The homemade breakfast, afternoon tea and cake, as well as the dinner is superb. The only thing they cannot influence is the weather. We would add at least another star to The Old Manse.
We will definitely come back.

This is B&B in a class of its own. A warm welcome awaits you and your room will have everything you could hope for plus much more. Stunning bedroom and bathroom and everything spotlessly clean and very well cared for. Debbie and Eric are the perfect hosts and will help you with all your requirements. The evening meal menu looked very tempting but time did not permit us to sample it. We'll be back!
