Whenever we visit this area we always make a point of visiting this establishment - the food is fantastic and all home cooked. The staff are warm and welcoming as is Deborah the manager. We have a liittle dog and he is made more than welcome in the friendly, comfortable bar area. Unfortunately, the accommodation we stayed in was less than satisfactory and the Black Horse was our saviour. Shirley and Gordon, Watford - Many thanks.

Thank Gordon M

having been here many times , i am always thrilled with the consistant standard of food. Being a vegetarian that always eats out with meat eaters it is a thrill to get tasty and well seasoned vegetarian food, although i only had the veggie lasangne it proved that this can be an amazingly tasty dish, so many places fail on this. The carnibores are always extremely happy too!!!

We visited as part of a large party for Sunday lunch, pre booked. Several of the members of the party had to wait half an hour for their main courses, after the rest of the group had been served. The kitchen staff seemed overwhelmed and communication via the waiting staff was non existent. After complaining to the manager, who was rather rude, despite having taken nearly £200 pounds, we said we would never go back. If the food had been marvellous we would have been more forgiving. The food was average, and certainly not home cooked. My advice, there are some lovely pubs in Battle, try there instead.
