Description: The White Hart is a privately owned family-run free house pub, offering a beautifully presented menu of locally sourced and selected dishes. Our classic pub menu is backed up with a daily specials board offering further seasonal choices. We hope diners think our menu suits all tastes, with fish and vegetarian options always available. The White Hart welcomes children and well behaved dogs, (or is it the other way round!) so we are a popular venue for walkers enjoying the surrounding countryside and the excellent network of footpaths. The pub also offers an alfresco dining area under our covered pergola, with far reaching views towards Beachy Head, over a large sweeping panorama of the Vale of Ashburnham immortalised by the painter William Turner (1775 - 1851). Parts of the pub can be made available for private functions subject to availability and timings. For details of forthcoming events or to book a table, please call or look on our website.

We had a lovely meal at the White Hart, a real bonus being that they offer small portions for some of the meals. For the more hungry visitor the portions were more than satisfying! Our host was attentive and friendly. We were able to enjoy a relaxed meal catching up with family whilst overlooking the beautiful views of E. Sussex. Would definitely recommend.

Went for lunch , food was mostly very nice , fish and chips disappointing, looked and tasted like ready meal. Pork belly and fish cakes excellent, very nice environment and friendly staff.

We have just got home from a weeks stay in the bungalow at the White Hart Inn. What a true gem in beautiful surroundings.
We were not sure what to expect given that the bungalow is sited on pub grounds and we were holidaying with children but WOW.

The bungalow has its own private driveway and garden seperate from the pub and because it backs straight on to miles and miles of countryside, you truely feel completely 'alone' in the middle of the stunning rolling hills of sussex.

On arrival we found that the owners had left us bread, milk, tea, coffee, sugar, box of fudge and a bottle of wine.... what a wonderful welcoming surprise. Once we'd settled in, the owner came to introduce himself and advised us of our surroundings. There were leaflets and info details in the bungalow too giving us details of days out and local events.

We ate in the pub on a couple of occasions. The food was beautiful, menu was perfect and the prices too. Hubby loved the local ale. We sat outside enjoying our wine and the stunning views (we heard many others at the pub talking about the views too) whilst the kids played on the swings, climbing frame and monkey bars..... true paradise.

The thing that struck us the most (and is prob one of our main reasons for wanting to return here) is just how wonderful the guys that own this place and the staff are. Sean and Urshen (forgive spelling) are 2 cousins that own and run the White Hart. Sean the pub and Urshen the holiday let. These 2 guys are the most accomodating, friendliest chaps you'll ever meet. Nothing was too much trouble. THANK YOU both for making our stay so pleasurable and comfortable.

We are now looking on the website for availability for us to return again this year and again for next year.

Thank you to everyone at the White Hart. We'll see you again soon.

Victoria and David

Must add, for those wanting to get out and about. The town of Battle and Battle Abbey ( Battle of Hastings 1066) is about a 10 - 15 mins drive away. Nearest beach - Bexhill on sea 10 mins drive. Hastings, Pevensey Bay 15 mins drive. Drusillas zoo 25 mins drive.

The owner greeted us and advised on times for meals and what events were happening that evening.

Meal was good and service was good -not too long to wait but not rushed so that we felt we could not enjoy the meal.
