We stayed two nights at this lovely hotel. We had a very nice room with comfortable four poster bed. The owners are very welcoming. The food is excellent. We had a meal in the resteraunt on the second night and it was some of the best food we have had. A very relaxing and enjoyable stay. We would recommend a stay at this hotel.

Lovely hotel with excellent service. Room perfect.

Only negatives were the huge holes in entrance to car park which could so easily have been filled in and the midweek menu is sparse with no starters on offer at all.

However will return as everything else including breakfast was superb.

My husband and I decided to book a room here at the recommendation of the local Carr Taylor vineyard with whom we were going on a tour, we are so glad we did! The room was spacious, beautifully decorated and with everything you could hope for to make our stay as comfortable as possible (even a heater and a fan in the wardrobe in case we were too hot or cold!). The grounds are lovely even though the weather was not, and we had a delicious breakfast with lots of variety on the menu. We would definitely stay again, and cannot recommend I highly enough!

We were greeted by the owner on arrival, charming lady who showed us our room and explained the layout of the house. She also explained her husband does all the cooking, as he is a qualified chef.

We were very lucky although they were busy, we were upgraded and had a beautiful large room (Senlac), overlooking the Koi Pond with a huge power shower, that I could have spent the whole day in, and a huge oversized sleigh bed which was really really comfy.

Breakfast was amazing, and the 2nd day I had to ask them to serve me under half the portion of the morning before. The breakfast room again looks out over their beautiful garden, which I would think in the height of summer would be wonderful, although the colour was still lovely for early autumn. Even after eating more than our fill, we were offered more.

It was cold out and miserable but the whole building was warm, and everything in the room thinks of your comfort, there was a heater in the cupboard for extra warmth a fan obviously for use in the summer. Lots of cupboard space and drawers.

We would love to have tried their evening meals, but were busy meeting up with friends for dinner, so never had a chance. We also used their lounge in the evenings to catch up on our Emails and to relax with a book.

Very handy position for Hastings, Battle and Rye which was the reason we chose this over others, and also the rating that they have had here on Trip Adviser (how did we manage to book hotels before T.A I have no idea).

Would defintely use again next time we are in the area.

Were recommended this hotel by the Carr Taylor Vineyard which was the reason we were in the area. I booked the hotel and a fine dining three course meal at the same time. The hotel itself was very pleasant and in relatively good order, The rooms were large, comfortable and pleasantly furnished with all the facilities you could want for a short stay. We were surprised when we opened the window in the morning to hear just how close and noisy the main road was but we had not heard it at all during the night. Good double glazing! The food was excellent if a bit on the pricey side with a three course meal with a Carr Taylor wine running to about £75 with wine plus a tip but as it saved you having to go out and allowed you to enjoy your wine without having to worry about who was going to drive it was well worth it. Beautifully presented and very nicely cooked. The breakfast in the morning was also very nicely done. I always debate whether I should give an excellent rating in such circumstances but although the Claverton is very good I reserve an excellent rating for those really special places that will live in my memory. I would highly recommend the Claverton Country House Hotel. For the standard of rooms and the venue it is not much more than a standard B&B but has that extra something that makes it different. Well worth a visit, as is the winery nearby.

Room Tip: If ours was anything to go by, all of the rooms will be equally pleasant. Some cheaper than others

Do not miss an opportunity to visit this most delightful hotel, The rooms are gorgeous and bathrooms very luxurious, the shower cabinet was big enough to have a party in it. (but we didn't!!)The dinner we had in the evening was divine, better than many West End restaurants we have been to. It was very relaxing to enjoy our after dinner brandies in the lounge. We felt like very special house guests rather than hotel clients The breakfast was marvellous, so much choice and beautifully cooked,

Room Tip: For absolute decadence choose the four poster bedroom or Powder Mills

Perhaps it was due to us just staying for one night but the welcome was uninspirring and on leaving we were not even asked if our stay had been pleasant or untroubled. The propriator was mearly concerned about card payment even though he admitted he had our details from the on line booked agent. From what we saw he left all the front of house chores, breakfast etc to staff. They were very pleasant, kind thoughtful and gave good service to any guests that we saw them deal with. If the owner thinks this entitles him to call it a Hotel then please think again. A building with 11 or so bedrooms in it does not constitute a hotel. A lounge with drinks and music is offered but on our return at ten a couple were being told by the paid help that the music would have to be turned off as she only worked til ten.
As a b+b the grounds were lovely, the room was beautiful, spaceous, well kept and had a huge shower unit with the wc. Ample parking for all the rooms and the breakfast menu was above the norm. But if you call it a hotel then the service and amenities are poor. All reception staff in hotels are trained to be polite and ask how the stay was like and if they can help in any way. We choose b+b's for the personal touch and homelyness. Unfortunately Claverton House is not sure what it is. It has great potential if the owners managed to meet, greet and welcome their guests with a smile and have the same courtesies when we leave.
