“Fantastic- clean, comfortable and lovely owners”

We wanted two days away in Southwold, and The Grain Store seemed a good option as it was slightly outside the more touristy area plus it was really reasonably priced. I liaised with Mike throughout the booking process, and he was so obliging and friendly. We had a bottle of wine, a pint of milk, and biscuits waiting for us on arrival, and we were instantly charmed by the setting. The accomodation is clean, warm and very comfortable, and the views are beautiful. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone. Thank you for a wonderful weekend Mike and Sarah- we will see you again for sure.

“Cosy and great value”

I stayed with my wife and one year old baby during high season (August). The property is in a great location and was great value- in comparison to other holiday lets in the area surrounding Southwold. It was perfect for my family as my one year old could crawl around on the same level as us while we prepared dinner or relaxed. The views from the cottage were lovely and the garden was very pretty. Basically it had everything we needed, including table tennis. The owners were really welcoming and kind, giving us wine and biscuits on arrival. They set up a cot area for my son and even brought him toys to play with.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this place. Even on a day when it was bad weather, it was great as we had a cosy hideaway to watch DVD's in.
Thanks again to the Butt family for a great stay. Our only regret is that we could not stay longer.

“Would come here again”
Reviewed August 19, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We had a happy and comfortable holiday at the Grain Store. Less than ten minutes from Southwold for seaside and beach, plus many other destinations within easy reach for those with young children. The accommodation was clean and well taken care of, with good facilities for self catering (no need to take anything at all). A beautiful building with lots of natural light, although anyone over six foot would need to be a bit careful of beams. The single bedroom would be good for children of a range of ages - small and den-like (our six-year old loved it). The Butt family were welcoming and had added many thoughtful touches (e.g. kite to borrow, good selection of DVDs, teabags/milk/wine/biscuits on arrival). We'd happily return to the Grain Store. Thank you for a lovely stay.

“Excellent break in Suffolk”
Reviewed July 26, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

My friend and I spent an all too short few days at The Grain Store for some R&R. The light and airy apartment is very well equipped and maintained and the helpful owners are close at hand should there be need. We were greeted by the sight of fresh flowers on the table and the welcome find of bottles of milk and wine in the 'fridge (and lovely biscuits!). Uggeshall is ideally placed for exploring Suffolk and is very near Southward with its pier. Only wish our stay could have been longer.

“Well designed & appointed conversion in lovely location, close to Southwold.”
Reviewed June 29, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Loved staying in this small, tastefully converted & very comfortable rental property. A very peaceful location deep in the Suffolk countryside, though only a 5 mile drive from Southwold. Owners lives in the adjacent house and were attentive & helpful, yet discrete. We tended to gravitate to the coast for lovely walks taking in beach & reed beds/wet lands but there were also loads of paths & lanes to explore from the Grain Store. Owner said they would have picked us up from the station (Brampton, just a platform & a shelter, 3 miles away) had we all arrived by train. Our party was a couple plus one adult. The single room is small but we expected this as it was clear in the description. Thoroughly recommend.

“Calm, refreshing retreat - Loved it!”
Reviewed May 15, 2015 for a stay in May 2015

We were having a weekend away in the midst of a busy season before our first baby is born and wanted somewhere calm, peaceful, but with plenty to do if we wanted. The Grain Store is just that. Within very easy reach of Southwold and other traditional market or seaside towns and in a beautiful part of the country. The accommodation itself is very tastefully decorated and well done out with everything you need for a comfortable stay. We had a great lunch at the Crown Inn in Southwold and a really good dinner at the Angel Inn in Wangford (would recommend both), but the Grain Store also has everything you need to eat well at 'home.' Mark and Sarah obviously love making people feel welcome and there were little touches that made a lot of difference, like fresh flowers on the table, milk in the fridge, and some goodies like wine and biscuits. Logistically it was all incredibly easy literally parking outside the place having been given a code for the safe with the key inside. Mark very promptly and helpfully responds to emails. All in all a really good place that we would consider coming back to again when our baby is born since they have everything necessary for this to be very child friendly. Loved it!

“comfort and quiet in rural suffolk”
Reviewed November 1, 2014 for a stay in October 2014

This cottage was just what we needed. The accommodation is actually the first floor of a converted barn. Clean and tidy and comfortable too. Overlooking sugarbeet fields, this is a peaceful spot with very easy access to the coastal town of southwold.
