We enjoyed our stay at the crown Hotel, our room had been recently refurbished and felt homely and comfortable. Breakfast was lovely and the staff were friendly and helpful.

We have just returned from a two night stay at the Crown where we had a great time. The staff were friendly and efficient, our room was comfortable, nicely refurbished as was the bathroom. Perhaps a little small but perfectly adequate and with 2 comfortable Lounge chairs to sit on. So often hotel rooms only provide one comfortable chair! The Christmas package was not cheap but the food was good, including excellent home cooked breakfasts. It was also nice to be waited on at breakfast rather than the usual buffet. My husband did have to return a piece of steak on Christmas Eve as it was very tough but his complaint was dealt with very professionally and the replacement was excellent.

Being a pub/ restaurant more than a hotel the atmosphere was very relaxed. There was no formal lounge area but a cosy back bar where you could go for a drink. A very nice extra touch was the hamper of goodies which we found in our room on Christmas Day. Very much appreciated! We would definitely return for another visit.

We stayed at The Crown Hotel. The room was comfortable-I slept like a log! The shower was lovely, and there were bottles of shampoo, shower gel, soap and hand lotion enough to last a week at least. The room had a good sized tv, but not ridiculously huge, bottled water, little chocolate merigues, and other conveniences like a hairdryer and dressing gowns. The only gripe for me was no kettle, but as they do room service it's probably not a real issue. The breakfast was a delight, with a choice of things to start, then a lovely cooked breakfast (vegetarian options available) using local produce. The waiting staff were friendly and efficient, ready to cater for any reasonable request, ditto the reception staff. The sea was a short walk away, as were the shops and pubs.A lovely place to stay-would definitely stay there again!

We took advantage of the dine and stay for £145 deal and were not disappointed. The food was lovely and though the restaurant was busy the staff were attentive and we didn't have to wait long for our food. We stayed in room 8 which was very comfortable, warm and not at all noisy. I particularly enjoyed the Broadside 'Old Fashioned' in the little bar before our meal. As it was December, the dining room was tastefully decorated for Christmas and felt very inviting.
Breakfast was very good and the 10% off voucher for use in the Adnams Cellar was a nice touch.
Would thoroughly recommend

Recently returned from a 2 night stay at the Crown where I have to say we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. This hotel proved to be first class accommodation, in terms of cleanliness, service, food and staff. We stayed in one of the superior rooms which had recently been refurbished, it's just a pity they didn't give a little more thought to the positioning of the soap dispenser when having a bath!
Would certainly recommend.

Room Tip: Opt for a superior room where you can sit and watch the world go by.

My wife booked this so that we could have a night away from the children and celebrate my birthday in peace! Excellent choice. That staff were friendly and welcoming, the room (4) was essentially a suite with a rather quirky set up of a roll top bath in the bedroom and a seperate power shower in the well appointed bathroom, as well as a seperate lounge area.
We just had to sample the Gold Medal winning Adnams gin in the bar and it went down rather well with the Fevertree tonic.
Dinner in the restaurant was excellent, though traditionalists may not favour the trendily deconstructed crumble for starter. The steak for main was cooked just as requested, and the apple pie for dessert was simple and sublime.
We also stayed on the £145 deal and thought that this was great value. We'll definitely be back just as soon as we can convince nanna that having the boys to stay is such fun!!

Room Tip: Room 4 was terrific, though it does face onto the High St so some delivery vehicle noise is inevitab...

We stayed using the spend £145 per couple on food and drink and get your room for free deal. This currently applies on a Friday which suited us better than sunday-thursday. Overall we were very happy with our stay. The rooms at the back look into the Courtyard so don't expect a view but the rooms are very well done, beds are very comfortable etc. The corridors feel a bit tired and the fire-doors make it feel a bit institutional but that's hardly important in the scheme of things. Our main interest was the food, beer and wine and that was uniformly excellent as was the service. I would have expected a slightly longer wine list considering Adnams have their wine shop almost next door but what we had was very good and, as presumably they hope, we spent more than our £145 minimum anyway. I'd also recommend having a pint or two in the Lord Nelson nearer the sea front although the Crown has a very cosy back bar of its own. All in all a very good experience and we'll be back.
